Last year I had advocated that the Patriots trade up to get one of the playmakers in the 1st round. One or 2 went higher than I thought and were not worth the risk of using the value to go up that high.

This year there is not many players that I would spend the draft choices to trade up to get - no WR at except Floyd if he is there at #25.

However if Kirkpatrick or Hightower fall to #15 or below I would seriously think about it on what I know right now.

What other players might be worth a 10 spot or better trade up?

Brockers or Coples and that's it.

David DeCastro
Dre Kirkpatrick
Mark Barron
Trent Richardson

However no more than 10 spots up.

Blackmon or Wright if they fell to 20+

Richardson if he fell to 15+

Brockers 13+

Brockers. That's it.

Just 2 for me. Justin Blackmon for obvious playmaking abilities and David DeCastro. I doubt that DeCastro will dominate everyone in the pros but I haven't seen anyone better than him at the collegiate level.

I have to agree with Blackmon or Brockers

Brockers or Upshaw, although don't think we would be willing to move up much farther then 17 and both should be long gone by then.

Brockers/upshaw

I would only trade up to go get brockers and only if he fell to #16 so i can use #31 and #48 for him. Then i come back at #27 and get cox. If cox is off the board, i trade #27 for a pick in the 30's plus another second rounder next year and take a flyer on crick with that pick in the 30's, since he played the two gap so well at nebraska.

Kirkpatrick or Floyd.

Please not Coples, the guys a lazy POS and the amount of picks we'd need to trade up for him would not be worth it. I would shed a tear if we moved the house for Coples

Sammy Watkins. But he's not draft eligible until 2014.

Who are the best 2 gapping D-linemen in the draft this year?

blackmon
brockers
Kirkpatrick in taht oreder.

Do you think BB will change strategy and move up due to:

1. Post superbowl panic/need
2. CHange in rookie contracts

A nice draft day would be a nice salve!!

Upshaw, I think he's gonna be really good in the NFL. Floyd, would also be a good second option.

From your mouth to BB's ears.

In regards to Hightower I really like him but don't see them trading up to get him. He's viewed as a late first or early second round choice by most. If they didn't trade up, which is likely and ended up with Cox at 27, Hightower at 32 and Minnifield at 48 I'd be pumped.

lol You've said this in so many threads yet have no evidence to back it up. Coples is THE reason Robert Quinn went so high and why people are even considering drafting Donte Paige-Moss.

Morris Claiborne, CB from LSU. Best corner in the draft, and as far as I know no off-field issues. Runs a 4.45 40 yd. dash, 6-0 185. I know he'll go VERY high and the Pats have virtually no shot at getting him, but a man can wish, can't he?

Who are the best 2 gapping D-linemen in the draft this year?

So few college teams play the two gap, but obviously 3-4 college D lineman have a head start over 4-3 d linemen.

In my mind the trick is who projects best over time as a two gap D lineman.

I think Still projects best especailly in years one and two.
But over the life of their first contract Brockers projects to have the highest ceiling. Followed by Cox. If Crick had stayed healthy, he could probably challenge Cox for #3 on the list.

Also I like Ta'amu as a backup NT in our defense. His success in our defense would be directly related to how successful Pepper is with teaching him how to play with lower pad level. His strength is good so once he masters the rules of leverage, he could excel in our defense.
