WELKER: " I let the team down "

He pretty much blew it. Sorry its a fact. Its just like Lebron, you can have all the regular season stats you want. But when it comes to crunch time you just didn't get it done. He's a free agent this year, do yourselves a favor and let the overrated midget go. The only reason he even has the stats he does is cause of your phenomenal hall of fame QB. It's no coincidence he was a journey man before he got to New England. He's a slow midget with good hands...not gonna win you a superbowl..and he cost you this one...thats right ....he did.....its time to part ways. :snob:

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt

Ok, come on now... Wes Welker caught 122 balls this year and accounted for 23% of the Pats' yards from scrimmage, not bringing him back would be a mistake.

Manningham made a very good but not great catch of a spectacular throw. Every former pro receiver analyst saw that play the same way.

Welker did not make what would have been a very good catch of what was a very poor throw.

Eli had a spot about 1' square to hit on his throw. Tom had yards of space to fit that ball into and put it out on the very edge of being something Welker could catch. Tom had all kinds of room to make that a play that Welker could have made without leaving his feet. The difference between Tom and Eli on those two plays was far more significant than any other aspect of those two plays and in fact was the difference in this game itself. Their quarterback outplayed our quarterback in what has become a quarterback dominated league.

Stack up the rest of the play by the two quarterbacks in the game and it is inescapable. Eli outplayed Tom. Even the hit by Tuck on Tom was more a result of Tom trying to do something with the football I still don't understand. Where was Tom going with that spin move. He should have just slid down before making the spin move cause it was going to buy him nothing. All it did was leave him exposed to the hit by Tuck.

There is a pretty good chance the Pats' don't make there without Wes. Everyone on this team can recall a play they "should" have made. It's easy, or maybe even comforting, to point to one play but they were never out of it and came up short, collectively. In reality he shouldn't have needed that catch. And it still wouldn't have guaranteed a win.
They played hard, overcame a lot, and fell short of perfect execution. Wes, and many fans, may not agree but while it would have enhanced the chances of victory, Wes' drop does not absolve the rest of the team nor would it have erased the resilence of the Giants.

All I can say or even think about this is:

**** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** ****

Makes a hell of a lot more sense than a lot of other posts out here this morning. Well said. **** **** ****

He's an enemy troll, you can tell by the use of the terminology, "YOUR QUARTERBACK", and the fact this person just showed up today to post negatively. This clown is not a PATS fan.

Yeah, I guess Ian finally decided to get some sleep after a night of fending off trolls from registering. I think I'll give Ian a pass, though. ;)

That is way, way too complicated for him to understand. Lots of words with more than three letters.

Um, not really. What we need is someone to take Ocho's place and maybe Branch's as well.

I really hope Welker considers all this during these contract negotiations though.

I agree. Welker has performed at every expectation any of us had when we traded for him. No one works harder. No one takes more punishment. Nobody.

Having said that, he should have made the catch on a somewhat inaccurate pass. I don't give Brady any reprieve on this though. It was a big moment in a big game. Montana makes that completion happen. Shoot…Brees/Rodgers have shown the ability to make that throw in a HUGE MOMENT.
I am still so upset about it. Brady has left play after play on the field in the past 2 games. Nobody gets better protection - and frankly, he looks shaky back there. He may not be, but he looks a little afraid.

A lot of other things had to happen for us to lose the game, but this was no doubt a crucial turning point.

The old adage remains true, you have to catch what you get your hands on. Tom threw a back shoulder pass that coulda been slightly better but Wes got two hands on the ball and wasn't getting hit.

Absolutely have to make that catch.

.

That's the point it was just Wes and the Ball.:(

It was the Patriots quality of play as a unit throughout the game that led Welker to be forced to make a catch like that. I feel like with two weeks to prepare, he should have never been put into that position in the first place. Now people want to make him the scapegoat as to why we lost the game, and that is by no means fair on him.

Yes time for you to go. why should we take what a troll says seriously.

If they pay him like a top slot receiver, I have no problem with it---he is the best there is. But if he is seeking top outside receiver money, he is going to walk.

No excuses but, he was pretty hurt. I fully expected them to run the ball A LOT more than they did. I wanted them to be more slanted towards the run in this game because that was a Giant weakness to exploit and would have decreased their strength. Need more run next year. I don't care if Brady is or isn't the best. I want more versatility and less reliance on individual efforts that require near-perfect execution. We should have an offense with the ability to throw it all over the field or pound it all game long depending on the match-up. We seem to resort to passing far too quickly. Even down 9 points early was not reason to abandon the run.

Did he look afraid when he completed 20-23 passes? did he look afraid when he set a super bowl record for consecutive completions?
Look at his stats before and after the Tuck hit, we're going to find out hes going in for shoulder surgery shortly, he had a bad wing and the Tuck hit made it worse, hell, they had Hoyer warming up on the sidelines.
These games come down to a play or two and they made em, we didnt, a healthy Gronk or a Healthy Brady down the stretch and we win.
Theres plenty of blame to go around, trying to pin it on one guy/play is silly.
BTW, where was Brees/Rogers yesterday? They didnt make plays when they should have or they would have been there instead of manning.

isn't this what we say every year. for some reason running the ball is considered a sin when you have TFB as your QB

Yes Wes should have made the catch but he didn't. Tom should not have thrown the deep ball to Gronk, but he did. And we should not have had 12 on the field and got that fumble, but we did and we didn't. And we should have got Bradshaw's fumble but we didn't.

Would of, could of should of, but we didn't. That's the way it is when we play the Giants in the SB.

I will say that I liked the Wes handled himself during the press conference. didn't make excuses, looked near death, it was killing him. Didn't try to put on a happy face. That's how I want players to act when they just had a big loss.

Yes it is. Maybe after Brady suffers his thirteenth shoulder separation they'll consider it.:snob:

The pass was good. Welker should have had it. End of story...

Deus, I don't always agree with you but your posts post-superbowl have been the epitome of succinct and 100% accurate.

I still appreciate you Wes Welker and would be honored to have you back as a Patriot next year. We all make mistakes!

We love you Wess.
