Steelers and Broncos Square Off for Right to Play the Patriots

Tim Tebow's last stand as a starting NFL quarterback.

Ben Roethlisberger knows how to pick apart the sorry Patriots secondary while Tim Tebow knows how to run around and get sacked. The Patriots haven't won a playoff game in four years. We are all Broncos fans tonight!

The Patriots should and will be favored over both teams. The should BEAT both of these teams. The switch of McCourty to safety looks like it makes the secondary a bit more "dynamic" with more ability to make plays on the ball. I will be confident against both teams next Saturday night.
The horse has been beaten to death, but IF the Patriots avoid the slow start on both sides of the ball it will be a cakewalk. The Pats have already played both teams, and although they submitted one of their worst games of the year agaisnt Pittsburgh, believe it or not, the Pats had the ball at the end of the game with a "chance" to win the game.
If they Patriots submit another playoff clunker against either of these teams, some things within the organization must be seriously reconsidered...GO PATS

Speak for yourself.
Unlike you I don't fear the Steelers nor do I fear the Ravens. I love good tough physical football so playing those two teams would be real treat in this arena ball league.
If the Patriots are Super Bowl worthy then they will play and beat the best the AFC has to offer especially at home.
It saddens me to see so many wimpish Patriot fans.
WANTING to play the best teams used to be the Patriots gold standard.
Let's get back to that.
Bring it on and let the best team win.

I think the Pats should beat either the Sqealers or Broncos.......not afraid of either team. No guaranteed win against either obviously.....but I really like our chances.

That being said.....I'm going to pull for the Broncos tomorrow on at least 3 levels:
1. I think we beat the Broncos easier
2. I don't like the whining Squealers or their fans much
3. I like Teebow

I think it will be a good game.

I was going to pretty much post this.

I will add..I dont want ben to have any chance at a 3rd ring,

Pittsburgh or Denver, I would be feeling pretty confident. Then again, I'm not prone to fits of hysteria about what happened on Halloween weekend.

The whole Pitt-Balt thing is premature. It's not a given that Balt will beat Houston, because Houston is actually a pretty good football team.

Big Ben has never beaten the Pats in the PO.

There's a first time for everything. Even while banged up, PIT is the most complete team in the league. We're going to need to play turnover free football if we play the Steelers. If we fall behind early, it will be a long day against the Steelers. Like most fans, I'd love to see us play DEN, but that's very unlikely.

Down, boy. There is no mention of the word "fear" in my post. Just the facts. The Steelers carved the Patriots pass defense up and there's not much reason to think they won't be able to do that again.

It's too early to mention the Super Bowl. How about getting through the next round where our heroes have a track record of stumbling.

Well said. I'm concentrating on our upcoming opponent. Let's hope we come to play and play mistake free football.

The forecast is for cold and snow today in Denver should make for an interesting game. I think the Steelers could bench the Jocktapus and still win this game. Snow favors a passing game and certainly not a zone read option team.

I think that the Pats can beat the Steelers, and I'm pretty sure that is who they will be playing.

The Jocktapus?!? You mean Roethlisberger, right? I love it!

IIAC wasn't the last time the Pats lost to Pitt in the playoffs was when Bledsoe was QB and he got hit and fumbled the ball to seal the game.....I think the Pittsburgh LB that recovered the game winning turnover was a guy named Mike Vrabel?

I believe Vrabel actually had the sack that caused the fumble! Vrabel never seemed to catch on in Pitt--this was really his shining moment as a Steeler--and is one of the few guys we've let go (outside of diva receivers) that have gone on to have great careers elsewhere.

Although in fairness, the championship game after the 04 season was the only time Ben has played the Pats in the playoffs, and of course he was a rookie then.

If we do play the Pats, *maybe* we can duplicate the results from earlier this year on D...but that seems unlikely. I agree that it will be tough to beat you guys twice in the same season (particularly when you're at home with two weeks to prepare!) Outside of this year, historically speaking we've obviously had problems schematically matching our D's style against your O.

Anyway IF we get past Denver I'll think more on this. I don't expect Denver to be the layup some prognosticators make it out to be. I think it will be a tight game and no gimme.

My understanding is that Cowher wanted Vrabes to put on the weight and be a 3-4 DE but he didn't and he didn't have the athleticism that guys like Carlos Emmons, Jason Gildon and Joey Porter had.

Tell that to the Jets.

Tomlin telling clark he wont play him earned a lot of respect from me for tomlin.

True but given the other teams offense it was probably the easiest decision he's ever made.

Yeah, a healthy Roethlisberger carved up the Patriot secondary at home and scored a whopping TWENTY FIVE POINTS in doing so. The Steelers threw the ball about as well as they possibly could and struggled to beat the Patriots on their home field. If you remember the Patriots played like crap throughout yet had the ball in the 4th qtr with a chance to tie up that game against those PITTSBURGH ~OH MY GOD THE PATRIOTS CAN'T COMPETE AGAINST THIS TEAM~ STEELERS.
All this sudden fear and yes heel you are very afraid of Rapistberger and the Steelers is foolishness.
I say bring 'em on!!!!

Really dont think it wouldve mattered.

I don't either but really they could probably throw the 70s steeler defense out there today and beat denvers offense
