Jarvis will probably play most of the game tomorrow...Mike Wright is definately a bright star as a backup but Jarvis Green IMO may be the best backup Defensive player in the NFL and probably would be a starter on 90% of the rest of the teams.

How many times in the regular season and playoffs has he played a big part in helping us win?

As usual, the media and very few other people even mentioned Jarvis's name last week with the game saving strip sack...With most of the Media mentioning Rodney with the recovery.

If ANY of our starters on the D line went down, theres no worry with Jarvis on the sidelines and thats something only a few teams can truly say about a backup lineman doing the same good job as the regulars.

Amen. ......

If there was every such a thing as a 'closer' in the NFL, Jarvis Green would be recognized as one of the best.

Whenever the Pats have the lead, they can put Jarvis in there to finish the game for us and protect the game. He's done it time and time again.

That's what someone called Willie McGuinest in the SB 39 DVD after he sacked Trent Greem on 4th and 10 to end the Chiefs game.

Since Willie is no longer with us I think Jarvis is a great candidate to be the new "closer."

I'll tell you, getting a sack makes you feel better, makes you sleep better at night. It was extra special to get that sack and make the play and win on Christmas Eve. I was able to get home at about 9:45 p.m. on Christmas Eve and spend that night and Christmas Day with my family.

For the past couple of years, I've played my best football toward the end of the season and in the playoffs. I think that sack was the start of something for me. I think I'm ready to get on a roll again and finish off the season strong going into the playoffs.

This week we play a good Titans team. Vince Young is a special young quarterback and Tennessee is a good team. The Titans have won six games in a row and they have a winning record. When you play against a guy like Young, you can't just go out there and run like crazy up the field. We want to keep him in front of us and contain his ability to run. He has made so many plays with his legs and his scrambling ability. Our secondary is going to have to stay with the receivers in coverage and we're going to have to stay in front of Young and at the same time get to him.

I feel great physically, better than I've felt at any time since I've been in the NFL. I want to play a good game and beat Tennessee and then head into the playoffs. We spent all this time working out and getting ready for the playoffs. That time is nearly here and it is exciting, man, it really is.

:rocker:

Great quote from the best Back-up in the league. Met him at an appearance and he is a very good guy to boot. Just one of the reasons,IMO, that the Patriots continue to improve as the the season has gone on.

I guess it's time. Jarvis Green was drafted to eventually replace McGinist.

Jarvis Green is also well paid considering he is a backup player. I think the Pats know what kind of quality player he is and that's why they gave him such a nice contract to resign.

BTW two more words - Mike Wright. Our younguns on D need to step up. Vince Young is going to be a tough load to handle.
