We have some easier games coming up. I still think chad has value to this team and experience we will need when December rolls around. I see O'Brien working him into the playbook a bit more. Expecting Chad to be tight with the offense against the Bills, Jets and Cowboys was unrealistic considering when he came aboard. He's never going to move ahead of the 4th or 5th unless injuries force the offense to change up a bit due to injuries.

The only play I recall seeing Ocho in yesterday was a route he took inside and Brady threw outside......I have a feeling Tom knew which way the break was supposed to be..and Chad took the wrong route......he only was in on 7 total plays.....not a good sign..

I saw the same thing. Next play Ocho was on the sideline. Haynesworth is actually contributing more to the team than Ocho.

Its going to get ugly. Ochos girl friend is selling anti Ocho T shirts and Curran suspects that Ocho is behind the whole thing.Evelyn Lozada Ocho loves the publicity and bad pub is still pub.

I did take a second to wonder if that's going to be Johnson's "It's not that F'in hard!" moment in Brady's mind.

Cut him, and then what? Bring in a new receiver through trade - how easily is that receiver going to pick-up the new system (ie., the trade one perceived problem for another potential problem scenario)? Elevate one of the existing receivers - if they are so capable, why aren't they on the field instead of Ochocinco (the "there has to be something better on the bench" perception)? Do you believe BB is keeping Ochocinco out there because he likes the guy, that the guy is out there because of an unfavorable/pricey personnel move/contract with embarrassing implications, or maybe he is unaware there are other WRs on the roster right now?

The better question would be what did those people voting to dump him expect to see from Ochocinco, the 2007 Patriots? Welker is tearing it up right now, not the other WRs. Everybody else complements his ability, and is at best second in line for receptions. Gronk has become an extremely reliable target, and Hernandez is essentially another receiver on the field. Oh yeah, and the Pats are trying to avoid becoming one dimensional, and therefore are spending a number of snaps running the ball with some success. Not sure what this better hypothetical receiver would be expected to do in this system, other than to immediately have Branch's familiarity with Brady, which is not a realistic possibility.

wow, 7 snaps is probably his lowest of the season...

I wonder whether its that he just doesnt get the offense, or the Pats havent found a suitable role for him to be used in considering we run a heavy 2 TE set...either way, the pats interest in Brandon lloyd doesnt spell much confidence in ocho.

I think well find out more during/after this bye week

Well, we did go to hurry up, and that means we bring in our "base offensive" package which doesn't include Ocho, or Price, or Riddley, or any of the new guys who are not quite in synch with the offense.

That's probably why his snaps were limited.

I thought the same.

Cinci's offense must have been written crayon or something.

Brady threw 1 ball his way and Ocho ran the wrong route.

Cut him or put in Price to see what he can do.

Ocho is a complete non-factor in every game and does nothing for this team. He played 7 snaps last night. From the looks of things the Pats are giving up on Ocho so I wouldn't be surprised if a move was made.

It's time to drop the "He's still learning the offense" excuse. It's mid-Oct. He just isn't going to get it, simple as that. He's had opportunities and he either runs the wrong route or straight up drops the pass. I love Ocho but he just isn't a fit here in NE.

omg! People feel bad for Ocho? Are you serious? 1) he's rich....he'll be alright. 2) he was given a chance to play in "Heaven" and he screwed it up. 3) he's OVER-RATED!!! Clearly on the downside of his career. He's better off promoting the Ochocinco charcter and brand. Go to video game Heaven, Chad...not Foxboro Heaven.

People, enough with the excuses. His days as a Patriot have been a disaster. They will not get better. HE DOES NOT FIT HERE.

I expected to see a veteran WR who could stay on the field and contribute in some fashion. Not one who, although he is making millions, runs the wrong routes (as he clearly did last night), lets sure TD passes go through his fingers and is on the field for all of 7 plays.
And, for those who say, how can you expect him to contribute if he's the third WR and the fifth target, he's not gettting balls thrown to him, etc, etc...there is a reason for that...he is not running routes the way he should, he is not getting separation and when the ball is thrown to him, he's not exactly making plays. If he were doing those things, he wouldnt be the third WR and the fifth option.
I could understand the "he hasn't had time to learn the system" argument during training camp. Six games into the season, though, forget that. How did Gronk and Hernandez pick it up as ROOKIES last year? Are they 10x smarter? They sure didnt have Ochos experience.
He is a bust. Cut him. Or, bench him and let Slater or Price show what they can do.

I say KEEP HIM. BBs patience with Haynesworth is beginning to pay dividends and I think the same can be had with Chad. The only reason I see to dump him would be the need for roster space when decisions are due on PUP players. And only then if they can be on the game-day roster. While Chad's catches have been more infrequent than anyone would like, they have been timely and quite indicative of his talent. No WR on the bench has shown that they can even surpass that with multiple camps and years with the team under their belts. I'd give him to at least Week 12 as long as his attitude remains as positive as it has been to this point.

He's still running the wrong routes after six weeks of "getting to know" the offense. I say secure Brandon Lloyd and dangle Ochocinco for a late round pick. It sucks. I like Chad and think he's a great entertainer. But, sooner or later, we have to let him go if he still can't get the offense.

I told you all he sucked when we traded for him. He is finished as an NFL WR. He has ZERO left.

For those suggesting we keep this scrub as injury insurance, would you REALLY want to have to count on this guy for some sort of contribution week to week??

Id much rather see a combination of Slater/Price in there. At least they can (physically) play the game.

I said they never should have gotten him. I HOPED I was WRONG. I really wanted to be.

And of course, I was called out as a Jets fan, troll, stinkerbum for it.

But unfortunately I was right. Althought I still hope I'm not.

Slater is a stiff who can't hold onto the football. Price is a guy who's shown nothing. It's Johnson or Lloyd.

Cut him! It took 6 weeks for me to make up my mind. But after what I saw yesterday, that was it for me. If they don't cut him, I hope that they at least give one of the young guys a chance.

This is a joke right? :bricks:

any1 hear Brady on WEEI this morning....very interesting re: getting a WR at the deadline...

Gonna hang on till the bitter end huh? jeebus. lol

I'm sure BB will do what's best for the team, regardless of what the fans think.
