Re: Jets ... Here's the rule: Club video crews & video crews from television stations that produce and telecast club-licensed programming...

... may also be permitted to have a camera on the sidelines to shoot footage for those club-licensed programs only.

Part 2 of the rule: "Home & visiting club-related sideline video personnel (coaches’ shows, team programming) will wear lime green vests."

One problem I see there straight away, why is the camera not pointing at the Jets sideline if it's for Jets club-licensed programming?

Just tweeted Albert about your question.

Jets on cameraman on sideline: "The cameraman in the picture works for Jets TV+shoots footage for our tm programming." Allowed per NFL rules

Still doesn't explain why he was filming across the field, does it? :bricks:

It looks like they're using one rule to exploit another.

He must've been filming cheerleaders. They'll superimpose JetSkank unis on 'em so everyone at home will shout "Hey! Our cheerleaders' leg scabs have healed!"

Tried to post the PFT story on JetsInsiders.com (JI)....now I've been banned until Nov 1.
Very sensitive over there.

Ian says it's legal. My question is why is it aimed at our sidelines when Shotty was looking at the Jets O set (so he is turned slightly left) and the Camera dude is still looking @ our sidelines?

The Jets are saying because he had the green jacket on he was allowed to be there filming, what everyone in the media is failing to pick up on is why the camerman is filming the Patriots and not the Jets.

I see that now Florio has it on Profootballtalk.com. The explanation makes sense. I

They'll claim they are filming the safeties

Yup. I find it very suspicious.

Better yet, who checks the video to make sure he's NOT shooting something he's not supposed to be?

I want the Jets to produce the name and picture of the person in the shot in question.

So let me get this straight:

1) No cameras are allowed on the sidelines

2) Cameras are allowed on the sidelines if you where a lime green vest and pinkie-swear not to use the footage for dastardly purposes

Seriously? Now the league is telling the Pats they lost a 1st round pick and $750K for a fashion violation and not spit-swearing they would use the video for good and not evil? Does anyone believe that:

a) This camera guy isn't filming stuff the league believes is beyond the scope of team entertainment programming
b) Rex doesn't have access to every bit of film this guy is taking

Just sent Rap a Tweet asking why if this cameraman is working for a Jets show like "all access" then why is his camera pointed across the field towards the Patriots sideline.

I suppose the next Jets excuse will be they were getting a reaction to something of the Patriots coaches

EDIT: Rap replied saying he was probably filming game action....note the game time is 15:00 so before play started though.

Breaking News! Actually foot-age of the video Rex Ryan ordered.

So how long until someone reads the rules about tv cameramen being ok on the sideline and twists it to "BELICHICK HAS NEW WAY TO CHEAT."

If this doesn't prove what a non story Spygate is nothing will but of course no one will see it that way. Goodell needed a bad guy and he got it.

You can make a logical response that everything that camera guy (and associated sound guys by the way) did was within bounds of the rules and spirit of competitive play. The question is what enforcement is done to ENSURE that is the case.

If there is no verification and the league takes the word of team employees that all video is used for team entertainment programming and coaches do not have access to the video, then that is the final straw in the argument that the situation in 2007 was so blown out of proportion it is laughable.

Probably filming game action.

Probably.

I find it hard to see how anyone doesn't see the hypocrisy here by Goodell and the league.

It is against the rule to film from the sidelines, unless you have our permission.

Right.

Joe and Evan on WFAN have already concluded this controversy is over, as the Jets answer puts it to sleep.

Either you cannot tape from the sidelines, your first round draft pick please and half a million, or you can.

Which is it Kommizar?
