Pats dynasty over

It ended with a whimper and a thud. Eeking out a 'tough' win agains the Lions and getting blown out by the phins.

It's over.

New wonder boy will be Philip Rivers / Drew Brees. Brady will feel like a red-headed stepchild and sulk with his hot girlfriend (who will probably dump him like yesterday's newspaper now that he's no longer a 'celeb'). Brady probably retires after this year or next.

BB won't be able to take the stress of mediocrity and will probably retire after next year.

Yes, you'll call me a troll, but I think I'm right.

I hereby relinquish all rights as to calling myself a Pats fan. For this year at least.

These are the transition years much like montana went through. It's ridiculous to think the dynasty is over. They're missing alot of players to the IR right now.

Just like it was over when the Pats got blown out by the Bills and eeked out 'tough' wins against the Browns, Giants, Dolphins, and others, right, in 2003?

I wouldn't say Brady is God. That's Belichick. Brady is merely the physical manifestation of him on the field. Jesus, if you will.

LOL...this is great ;)

Please do not bring logic to this thread....Injured players on IR?? Rookie WR hurt most of the year?? Star rookie HB not able to play VS Miami?? Broken wrists galore? Loss of Wilfork and Watson within seconds of each other...

Please, do not confuse the fair weather fan with fact and logic.

Can you leave already? You're messing up my zen.

The 49ers were a dynasty and they didnt win three out of four superbowls .They strung there superbowls victories out over more than ten years .The pats are still 9 and 4 and firmly in first place .Get your head out of your arse .

There are even people who have paid actual money to watch games in person in Foxboro.

It's bad enough to waste time watching a football team on television, but to waste time and pay for the privilege should be illegal!
Go to dictionary.com and look up "fan" so you can understand what is going on here.

When you only root for your team when it is on top, you just aren't a fan. When you talk about wasting money following a team and they aren't winning (or more correctly are "only" 9-4) you are clueless.

If everyone was like you, no one would go to games where the teams were on top of the league. Why don't you just leave with the other bandwagonner?

Fan is short for fanatic. If you apply unbiased logic you aren't a fan, you are a commentator or an analyst of the game in general but no team in particular.

Sorry, but you guys who can't root for a team because they are 9-4 are just too much.

Maybe a 6-10 season like the Steelers had a couple years ago is just what we need. Get rid of all the guys who don't understand what it means to be a fan.

Or 2-14...sitting on cold alum benches with only 18,000 at best. That was me and those were the days!!!

At least it didn't take two -three hours to exit the parking lots....

I think some people need to review what the 49ers did in the playoffs from 1985 to 1987.

Three consecutive 1 and dones, all by a wide margin and only one of them was against a team that went on to a championship. The last was even at home. And this is arguably the best dynasty led by the best QB of all time.

Edit: I just realized that if you click my link it reverts back to games played in 1933. Try this and then click the tabs to make it playoff games by the 49ers from 85 to 87.

You know, screw it. Here is the info on the screen:

1985 season: N wc Sun Dec 29 1985 at NYG NY Giants 17, San Francisco 3

1986 season: Ndiv Sun Jan 4 1987 at NYG NY Giants 49, San Francisco 3

1987 season: Ndiv Sat Jan 9 1988 at SF Minnesota 36, San Francisco 24

Primary team San Francisco: 0-3
Points for San Francisco: 30
Points against San Francisco: 102

I'm glad someone else noticed this. Many of the 'oldschoolers' are remembered only for their accomplishments now due to revisionist history (or selective memory, whichever). But in discussing this teams success it's only the current failure that many look at. What have you done for me lately?

Well, Brady's not done yet, and neither are the Patriots. They're in a rough stretch, but to say that it's over is to ignore that most of the 'great ones' made runs LATE in their career. Brady had success early, is now in the middle stretch, and still has the late stretch yet to come..

I'm not sure why people give such weight to someone leaving. Ignore them and let them leave without so much as a word to show their insignificance.

The fact that people are getting so upset about either is pretty funny.

This team has been outstanding over the last half dozen years and they're in the thick of things again. Consider that this franchise had trouble winning any games in the past and I remember fans leaving Foxborough at the half. I remember being given tickets to the games and still didn't take them.

So what if we don't win it all? All of this hoopla about "we're only about championships" is horsesh!t to anyone who's been around this team for the long haul. If you stop enjoying it, don't watch.

There are 32 NFL teams and there have been 40 Super Bowls played. San Fran has 5 wins, Pitt has 5 Wins, Dallas has 5 wins and the Pats, Raiders, Packers, and Skins all have 3 rings. Those 7 teams make up over 2/3ds of the Super Bowl rings won. This team has come a long way from the laughingstock of the league to being mentioned with those teams.

Frankly, it's funny watching people getting upset about people getting upset and then watching those people getting upset about people getting upset about people getting upset.

I don't think they've got it to go all the way this year but I'm hoping they give us a good show. In the end, if they don't win it, I'm not going to trash a team that gave me some of the best football memories as a spectator. I figure they're going to knock someone off before they go down and as usual, they're going to put their bodies on the line to do it.

I'm all for getting critical but let's not kid ourselves, these guys are your team or they aren't.

The Chargers are looking good if people are looking for a new flavor. The Pats are dangerous and competitive. If they do happen to pull it off, it will be another Patriot miracle but they are a good team and (so far) they haven't shown to be the best team. They've got some warriors though and they're dangerous.

Ther is actually logic here..found alive and kicking..running... THAt is always good!! and There is much logic needed when Naysayers are downing this team so easily..and openly..and those that weren't around to witness the down times of the Patriots franchise...perspective BAD thing..always surprised at Felger...since he wrote a book about the Pats past..although logic was never a big thing for him..it's rating now and logic is out the window...

PANIC!!!! :bricks:

In 2004, the Bengals came into Foxboro and Carson Palmer moved the ball at will on the Patriots. The only exception was an interception by Assante which he returned for a touchdown, helping us to win 35-28.

The next week, we go down to Miami and blow an 11-point 4th quarter lead to a bad team.

Was the dynasty over then? Hardly.

*sigh*

I am imagining all the broken ankles that happened Sunday night after the loss..........gotta be careful when you jump so quickly off the wagon.

I still believe in this team.

As do I.

Is it time to move this thread to a Bandwagon section on the site yet?
