Mankins could hold up NFL settlement

Mankin$ has leverage in this respect: he is - by far - the Pats' best OLman, and nobody currently on the roster comes even remotely close to having the ability to replace him. Bill, of all people, should understand this. Losing Mankin$, even if he plays here one more year, would be disastrous, esp. for the health of the ever-stiffening statue known as Tom Brady (and for future statue Ryan Mallett).
Uh, come again? Each of Tom Brady's most recent 3 seasons (throwing out the injury year) he has been sacked fewer times than he was in any of his first 6. The o-line deserves some credit for that, but it is ridiculous to call Brady a "statue".

You're right, Mankins is better.
You obviously never saw Hannah play. He's probably the 2nd best player in Patriots history, but since he was an offensive lineman, people who only understand stats can't recognize it.

obviously, he sold a ten year supply to "Timothy Leary" townes....
.

The supply must have gone to the people posting in this thread because they have been hallucinating about wrongdoing by mankind and dumping all over him for products of their own imaginations

And you base this on what? The lies that Mankins agent was saying recently? If you believe him, then I've got some nice Ocean front property in New Mexico I'd like to sell you.. Really cheap.. 5K an acre..

Your perspective is like what it is because of facts in this issue you are not aware of.

What facts in this issue would change the idea that Logan Mankins lost over 1.2 Million (probably close to 2 million) by holding out and not signing his tender and not negotiating with the Pats from the deal that they offered him..

What facts would change the idea that, had he signed the offer the Pats gave him, his salary for last year would have been 3.29 million? But he'd have also received the signing bonus from the deal offered him. That's a pretty hefty chunk of change..

But, please enlighten the board with these facts that you have..

HOF quality players are never "eminently replaceable." John Hannah wasn't and Logan Mankins isn't.

I will give you this however, at least you didn't trash him based on something he didn't do.

I've been a huge Logan Mankins fan since the Pats drafted him and I have said he seemed to have the ability to reach John Hannah status. But, let's be real. Mankins has not reached John Hannah status and he may never.

Now, as for this BS about trashing him. Most people DIDN'T trash him. Most people said IF. That being said, Numerous different reporters from around the country have reported differently than your claims or the claims of that lying sack of turd that Mankins has as an agent.

I'll take anonymous NFL sources over you or Mankins agent any day. The only way that I'll believe that Mankins didn't ask for any additional compensation if he comes out in an interview and says so. And he hasn't done that yet.

You're right, Mankins is better.

You clearly never watched John Hannah play. Mankins is not better than Hannah. Hannah is a HOFer. Mankins needs 4-5 more ALL-PRO elections before he gets consideration.

You are calling Mankins a HOFer? Really?
I didn't trash him at all.

Schefter says Mankins withdrew his demands.

Kudos to Mankins for not being a doosh particularly during Myra Krafts passing.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports while Patriots G Logan Mankins has withdrawn his demands, Vincent Jackson hasn't, despite denials that he wants $10 million or no tag.

IIRC, there was something like only 2 Sports Illustrated covers over a 20 year or so period that had Patriots on them (not counting Tony Eason splattered on the field for the Super Bowl 20 cover). This headline is as true today as it was then.

Mankins "problem' settled?

I just read on the "ticker', about an hours ago, that the owners have reached a settlement on the outstanding individual player disputes, including Mankins.

I've been switching back and forth from ESPNN to the NFLN to see if any details are given on that "settlement". Has anyone heard anything?

This is all I could find:

NFL.com news: Concessions for Brady suit plaintiffs not an issue in labor talks

Requests for concessions for numerous players -- including but not limited to San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson and New England Patriots guard Logan Mankins -- remained earlier in the week. But Jackson and Mankins appear to have dropped their demands, leaving less standing in the way of a new collective bargaining agreement that would end the four-month-old NFL
lockout.

That does not seem to jive what I saw on the "ticker".

Re: Mankins "problem' settled?

OK I just heard Breer say that Mankins has dropped any demands that he had during this labor dispute. So that part of it is "cleared up" and the word "settled" is wrong.

This is good news in that Mankins will not be a road block to a final settlement.

well, now I am convinced townes is tripping.

I have NEVER said a word about Mankins and his contract squabble. I replied to YOUR braindead, idiotic, moronic and bat blind statement that Mankins is a better offensive lineman than John Hannah...which is the MOST preposterous post made on this board in recent memory.

Can't wait to see what kind of conspiracy theory crap you come up with now to avoid admitting you stuck both your feet in your mouth.

He will say he was kidding

He will say he was kidding

He will probably also claim you can't drop something he was never convinced you were asking for because only an army of unnamed sources said you were and you publicly claimed you never asked for anything...;)

Actually I should have been more specific but I posted that while I was working, which I have never done before. You never took any shots at Mankins and by being so vague I apparently lumped you in with those who did, my apologies.

Actually I think it's better to deal with mistakes instead of running from them the way you do. You will go on and on and on and on and on and on about a topic but when confronted with your own BS you simply disappear, as you did when you claimed that governments wsould have to buy teams and refused to address the questions asked of you as to why communities simply couldn't do what Green Bay did. Nor would you respond to the very simple question of whether or not you saw Belichik present Mankins on the NFL top 100. You try to play Federal Prosecutor in thread after thread deconstructing every word and cross examining those you are arguing with, which while an effective message board tool is also incredibly arrogant and obnoxious.
