BTW, so we do not highjack this thread on the definition of evidence, here is the dictionary.com definition of evidence:

1.
that which tends to prove or disprove something; ground for belief; proof.
2. something that makes plain or clear; an indication or sign: His flushed look was visible evidence of his fever.

3. Law . data presented to a court or jury in proof of the facts in issue and which may include the testimony of witnesses, records, documents, or objects.

Not all journalists are lazy or unethical. Most journalists do uphold their journalistic integrity. Arguing any journalist's story is not true because all journalists lack journalistic integrity is a very weak argument. Unless you have evidence that Coles has fudged stories before, it is unfair to say he lacks journalistic integrity.

I do think it is funny that people are defending Mankins from people who accused him of doing something "there is no evidence of him doing" by trashing a journalist who provides evidence that he did do it with no evidence that the journalist did anything wrong at all.

No, the person making a claim bears the burden of proof. Why should I assume journalistic integrity on anyone's part? A journalist earns credibility when they consistently display that they have integrity, not before.

Clayton has a source that says the jets are the best team in football=The jets are the best team in football.

More evidence you clearly don't understand the difference between opinions and evidence.

I am tired of going around this with you. Come back to me when you brush up on your sixth grade English.

Coles is pretty respected in the football media community. I personally don't like the guy and his writing, but I have never seen him report anything that was ever questioned in validity and I have followed the guy off and on since he was writing for the Miami Herald years ago.

So from watching Breer on NFLN and reading his Twitter account the idea that Mankins could still hold this up remains technically true.

"Helping to clarify here: The good news is that players voted to pass terms that would become the CBA upon reconstitution of the union. ...

.. The bad news is the vote was conditional on the settlement terms that go along with the lawsuits. So that needs to be worked out."

Hopefully this is a procedural courtesy to the guys who put their names on the lawsuit and this moves ahead.

I just read through this.
Hopefully an unbiased opinion may help clear it up.
Rob is talking about evidence, as in a piece of information that is part of making a conclusion.
Townes is talking about proof, as in a piece of evidence that is confirmed, unquestioned and incontrivertible information guaranteeing the conclusion is correct.
Hope that helps. Carry on.

My HEAD hurts

Let's get to TC and talk players, positions, performance, ......please :)

And if we have learned anything there truly is no winner in a urination contest.

Sure there is....usually it's the one who's the biggest ****

FWIW, from Freeman of CBS:

The hangup: players still asking for cash

Logan Mankins and Vincent Jackson are still asking for cash compensation and that is one of the holdups over the finalizing of the CBA agreement, a source with knowledge of the situation told me.

Mankins and Jackson are still asking for $10 million each and this is slowing the process, the source explained. Jackson has denied he is seeking compensation.

The lawsuit against the NFL cannot be settled until all the plaintiffs agree and as of late Wednesday night, the source said, Mankins and Jackson were still seeking payment. The NFL, thus far, refuses to agree.

My guess: tomorrow, after more criticism, the two men will drop their requests and the CBA will be agreed to by the players and owners.

If Mankins and Jackson continue this course of action they may need to move to an isolated island in the Pacific.

If Mankins and Jackson really aren't asking for anything, there are a lot of sources lying and a lot of reporters running with it.

In an internet debate, the first person to resort to copy-pasting a dictionary definition loses by default.

On a side note, Ron Borges' opinion is not evidence of anything. If others are reporting it, then that could be, but Borges' input is worth less than nothing.

In any case, IF it's true that Mankins intends to hold up negotiations in a selfish effort to extort $10 from the league, then he's a grade-A douche. I already think he's a douche because of how he's handled his contract negotiations, though, so that's not exactly a revelation.

Jackson has gone public saying he does not want a settlement and only wants to play ball. It may now only be Mankins holding this up:
