My wife asked me if I wanted to watch the Pats game tomorrow...

I was the only Pats fan at a party of 15+ during The Game That Shall Not Be Mentioned.

I don't mind if she asks me questions but if she thinks I'm gonna sit here with the enemy she is nuts. I have friends at work who are Steelers fans, I didn't invite them over for the game either.

My friend is having a big superbowl party this year, I already told him I won't be there if the Pats make it. My perfect game watching setting would be a giant screen and a dark sound proof underground cave.

Regular season is one thing but come playoff time I can't deal with morons or opposing fans. Thank God no one was around after SB 42 because I'd probably be in prison now lol.

I watched SB42 with a Bears fan and my buddy's girlfriend who was a casual Giants fan because "my dad really liked the Giants back when he liked football." As soon as the game was over, I ordered them to leave.

.....with a Steelers fan and 2 ADDITIONAL kids who are not mine.

Sigh....

Someday this woman will get it.

The only thing I want to hear between 430 and 8pm tomorrow is the tv, my little boy and maybe her.

And of course you said: "not only NO..but HELL NO"!!!

What he said

My 14 year old daughter has invited her friend (a nominal Jets fan who doesn't know a damn thing about football) over to watch the game. My daughter has really gotten into The Patriots this season and I will do anything so this continues, so I'll put up with the friend. I knew she was hooked when I came home from work and found her watching Comcast Sports Tonight.

My coolest SB experience was during the '07 Superbowl, in New Orleans for Mardi Gras and we set up a projection TV on the Neutral Ground on Napolean across from Tipitina's.. strung extensions through the trees and hijacked cable.

Watched the game with about 10 firends and 50 strangers, some stayed and some left, it was the coolest experience of all time.. even though the ending sucked. Was amongst people from all over the country, some were pats fans, some were giants fans and some were saints fans.. everyone was respectful.

No issues, it was quite cool..

Every time we play the Dolpins watch it with my friend who is die hard fan.. that is also fun when we host, we usually serve entrees such as Dolphin Stew etc. Of course I serve drinks in Patriots Cups, and serve food on Patriots plates..

That's kind of where I am. I know I'll be VERY tense if this game is anything other than a Patriots blowout. My husband assures me he'll be available to entertain the kids from 4:30 on. But...if my 10-year-old really wants to come watch with me, I can't say no.

What he said

That game ruined it for me. I had a big party at the house cause I thought, no I knew, the Pats were going to destroy the Giants. I still can't even think about that game.

Even now, I will tape the game and follow it on this board (which honestly gives a strange feeling to the game). The 2008 season was great for me, as I expected them to loose every game. Thus, every win was fantastic.

That sucks dude. I cannot watch Patriot games with anybody but Pats fans (prefer to watch them completely alone). I don't even want neutral fans around me, I know that's a bit extreme but for some reason even they can ruin the mood for me.

Just moved into a new FL neighborhood for the winter. In a moment of temporary insanity my first wife suggested, "Why don't we invite all our new neighbors over to watch the SB on our 60" TV?" I gently reminded her that she has "issues" watching the Patriots. "Hon, don't you think these older folks might be offended and never speak to us again after you let loose a few F bombs on Patriots mistakes?" Woman just can't control herself watching the Pats.

Needless to say I don't watch big games with opposing fans. She terms watching the Patriots as "a religious experience" for me. More blasphemy for the perpetually offended.

Watched SB 42 with three others, one a Pats fan, two others anti-Boston.

I'll never forget the two haters hopping up and down in celebration and high-fiving each other when Tyree made that catch.

When Plaxico caught the touchdown they also celebrated, and then quickly quieted down after. All I could do was shake my head. I was having a mini-meltdown.

I'm a sore loser, especially with that particular season the way everything went down. So when the Pats turned the ball over on down, I left for my room, locked the door, turned out the lights, and just stared at the ceiling the rest of the night and into the morning. Wanted nothing to do with the gloating, from people who's teams weren't even in the damn thing, they just wanted to see the Pats lose. A microcosm of pretty much the rest of the world at the time, and I couldn't stand it. Couldn't sleep. I hated the world that night.

Never again. As long as I can help, it's Pats fans or **** off when it comes to watching an important game.

I would prefer renting an isolation chamber for 3 Hours or so which is equipped with a nice large leather recliner,a 60" LCD Sony Bravia,a halftime buffet made just for one and a gun to scare and keep those that try to invade and interfere with the game infactuation away from me.

Is that asking too much? and if not where can I find something like this?

Yes and a couple of these that look like Rex and Fireman Ed to hit for fun or when frustrated.

I really hope all you guys who believe that somehow the game is really about you, and that somehow your psychic energy or ability to focus determines the outcome, have perfect conditions for the Jets game today.

I really do.

I also hope the Patriots play hard all 60 minutes, don't turn over the ball, and have at least one more point than the Green Beans.

My dad is an old time Giants fan. He is not a Pats fan.

We watched the game together.

After Burgess made the catch. He said, "Wow". He didn't celebrate like he deserved to. He's in his mid 60s anyway so he's too old for that. Plus he didn't want to gloat in front of me. My mom would have told to him to pipe down.

As the game ended, he got up, got his jacket and said, "Part of me wished that the Pats won. Sometimes, history deserves to be made."

He didn't mean to, but what he said made dealing with that game much worse.

Well said by your dad. History also has a way of correcting it's mistakes. Go Pats.

I have to watch most games with opposing fans but it's at a bar and we throw around a little trash talk but it's not that bad. When you're at someones house with a bunch of other fans it's a big difference.

I have been in 3 real full fledged fights in my life....all of them started by sports, one of them coming from "that game". Sometimes I wonder if I should stop watching sports for my health.

I watch the game alone too (though I have been to SB parties). Not so much because of distractions but because I scream a lot and pace around and my friends think I'm insane. There is NO eating until after the game. I'm too nervous.

.....And as an old school Giants fan, he despises the Jets.

Go Pats!!
