Second half of 2010 v. second half of 2007

Without looking—starting with game 9 (Colts in 2007, Steelers in 2010) and going to the end of the regular season:

(1) Which squad had the larger point differential, 2010 or 2007?

(2) Which season did TFB have more TD passes, 2010 or 2007?

(3) Obviously, TFB has zero INTs this season from game 9 on. How many INTs did Brady have in the second half of 2007?

(4) Which squad would you rather have going into the playoffs, and why?

4. 2007 - more experienced on defense.

In '07 we played at our worst for much of the playoffs and Super Bowl- our nightmare scenario- and our opponents played pretty darn well. Yet we still came that close.

If we don't play our best football, we'll lose this time, and without the luck factor.

^ My exact guesses, but on #4 I'd say 2010 because they are actually forcing the 'big play' instead of waiting for an opponent to make a mistake. I don't think it's fate or luck, I think the 2010 defense is something special and will be for years to come.

I agree with everyone else on the first 3. For the last one I'd like 2010 just because they can beat you in every way possible making (O, D, and ST) it difficult for a team to take away a Pats strength without giving up on another strength. In 2007 the Giants slowed down the Pats offense and the other phases just weren't able to step up.

Yeah that extra experience helped a lot when Samuel dropped a game ending interception and Hobbs got burned alone in the endzone vs Buress. Just saying, your choice seems odd having known the results.

Unfortunately, that is the indelible memory than will never be erased. The Kevin Boss catch and all the things you mention. It's a shame really.

I will say that the 2007 defense played VERY well vs a hot JAX team and the SD team. They forced 6 turnovers and allowed only 32 points in both games combined. I'd take that in a heartbeat although if LT played and if Rivers was 100% maybe it might be a bit different as SD was playing well too. Who cares really. All for naught.

On paper without knowing the outcome of the '07 season then probably the '07 team. With knowing the outcome then certainly '10, this team has gained momentum going into the playoffs where in '07 they started to cool off. Experience is an issue but using the Jets game as a barometer, the closest thing to a must win game, they handled that pressure pretty damn well.

yeah but i just remember bruschi, vrabel, etc. and would love to have their experience over the inexperience of spikes, cunningham, mccourty, etc. if this were NEXT year, where the kids will have more experience, it would be a different issue.

plus u guys don't know how the 2010 team will finish. the 2007 team only gave up 17 points in the super bowl and held the giants to 3 points through 3 quarters that day. it was our offense that didn't get the job done in the SB - can't be the highest scoring team ever and only manage 14 points in a super bowl. to me, brady was playing with that high ankle sprain which limited his ability...that helped the giants D tremendously. the 2007 defense gave up only 274 points which is i think the fewest the pats allowed over the past 10 years.

It was rumored that he also had a severely sprained arch. I got that doing some cross country running and it took weeks to recover. He must have been on some good meds to play

Actually the 01, 03, 04 and 06 defenses gave up fewer points. But to your point, the 07 D was respectable.

yeah i just don't want to pin one FLUKE play on the 2007 defense....

To be fair, the 07 defense was helped out incredibly by the dominant offense. It's much harder for teams to score when their offense isn't on the field.

Let's face it; we were worried during december and January of 07/08; we were getting figured out. The offense was burning out. We had to struggle more and more for wins, and we were a collection of talent; not a team. This year is like the 01, with no superstars (save for TFB) but great teamwork, and on fire (of course, 04 had both teamwork and superstars).

No one has a freaking clue right now. We continue to dominate. I like our chances now better.

In points/min and points/yard, the offenses are identical. The '10 defense is on the field for 3:35 more than '07 ....meaning the '10 offense gets 5 fewer plays/game
