OT: Rex Ryan and Jets celebrate backing into playoffs

It was a drag hoping Norv and his team of loafers would step up against Cincinnati. This all just plain sucks. I guess I just hate the whole Jets spotlight hogging crap while the Patriots are evolving into a once-again great team now and for the future.

It is less offensive seeing a team that was 9-2 make the playoffs than a team that was 2-5, and then 5-6. In the East or North you'd be out of the playoffs way before a loss to the Bengals with a record like that. Plus their ticket to the playoffs would have hinged largely upon Matt Cassel suddenly getting appendicitis. The teams that are going to be in the playoffs to deserve to be there. There was no fluke nonsense this year with an eleven win team missing out or anything. There are going to be a lot of pissed off fans of NFC teams if the Seahawks manage to stumble in with a losing record. That would be the ultimate insult to a team that had a winning record in a tough division but missed the playoffs.

I wouldn't say the spotlight has been too kind on the Jersey Shore rejects either - Rex Ryan has a lot of self inflicted wounds right now because of his ridiculous behavior. If the Jets win against whoever they play in the Wildcard, they have a one way ticket to another beat down in Foxboro. I don't hope for one particular opponent over another, but humiliating rotund caligula twice in a row would be great.

Here In NY Jet fans still want a rematch VS Pats in Playoffs. I guess that finalizes their IQ. I'm SURE TB/BB would welcome them besides I'd like to see TB throw for 6 TDs. If It's a blizzard then maybe he'll throw 8!

A Great Day For Listening to WFAN here in NY

Hopefully My Man Joe Begnino will be doing a show today. I wonder if Jet fans can make it to GWB to jump due to blizzard and snow on 95?!
I guess Herd proposes to TB today.

Re: A Great Day For Listening to WFAN here in NY

i'll be listening off and on all day. i love that stuff.

Re: A Great Day For Listening to WFAN here in NY

It's a shame Jacksonville lost, though. It would have been that much more fun.

I like the fact that the spotlight is elsewhere than on the Pats this season. The Patriots have had time to work out the things that needed to be worked out.

Belichick is looking for career glory, and right now, he sees a huge opportunity. This is a very big one for him. Make no mistake about it. He sees what is in front of him. When the Patriots fly to Boston from Rochester this evening, they will know that they are home for the next 3 weeks until their big game in the 2nd round of the playoffs. You can bet that Belichick will be working day and night making sure that EVERY single detail is addressed.

This is huge.

The Patriots will be prepared, they will be ready.

I do think the Jets are talented and are capable of doing some damage in the playoffs.

But I thought that performance in Chicago yesterday was poor.

All that said, if they play in Foxboro, they will get crushed.

There have been worse, Andy. Michael Irvin says hello from his seat at the desk of the NFL network.

Drugs are drugs. America's puritanical streak is something else. don't forget that our most upstanding citizens through history used to engage in snorting some snuff. Coke wasn't outlawed until less than a century ago.

Jets still stranded in Chicago - Jets Blog - ESPN New York

As of mid-morning Monday, the New York Jets remained at a Chicago-area hotel, waiting for clearance to fly to Newark, N.J., on their charter flight.

The team is trying to stick to a normal routine. For instance, on Sunday night, the team set up a makeshift trainer's room to allow injured players to seek post-game treatment. Nowadays, all the coaches carry laptops, so they're able to review and evaluate the game and grade players.

We'll keep you posted from Chicago, where the beat-writing corps also is stranded. If this lasts a good while, we, too, may require treatment -- mental, not physical.

I know you all like to think that the week 2 Jets Pats game never happened but the Jets did beat the Pats THIS season.

I understand that any rematch would take place in Foxboro but it didnt help them in the playoffs last year.

Just saying, anything can happen so be careful what you wish for. ;)

Now back to the Jabba/Foot/Suckchez comments.

Week 2 is ages ago. Yes, the Jets can beat the Patriots but what happened in week 2 is about as pertinent to the discussion as what happened in 2002 - this is an entirely different Patriots team.

I'm really curious how Rex is going to treat the game next week - they're the #6 seed they can't do anything to improve their situation. Does he rest his guys and go into the playoffs with consecutive losses against a Bills team that could be a bigger challenge than people will think after last week's game?

Or does he play them to try to do something other than stumble backwards into the playoffs?

I agree with you on everything except for playing the Jets a third time this year. They know a lot about the Patriots and besides, I'd like to see the Pats exact revenge on the Ravens for last year's humiliation.

I want the Jets...in New England for the Divisional Playoff Game. I want to see them crushed again.

Can't wait to see fatso's face when we do!

Ms Classy, Lady Tomlinson is the one whose hopes and fantasies I want to see again crushed by reality.

He will do what they all do, play the starters for a quarter or two and then send in the backups.

Sanchez was very good in that week 2 match-up. He's gotten worse as the season progresses, and it was clear he didn't have the arm to handle the elements late in the season.

I have a lot of respect for any play-off team that comes to Foxborough, because it means they a) won enough games to qualify for the play-offs, and b) just knocked off another play-off team. But the last 4 games against the Jets showed they are great at taking away deep threats like Moss, but not so good at covering the small, quick guys like Wes and Branch. Until they find a way to do that, I like our chances, especially against Sanchez's flimsy noodle arm.

What it must be like to be a Jets fan...

First let me start by saying, we are spoiled...VERY spoiled being fans of this NE team. The combination and greatness of this coach and the QB only come around like this once in a franchised lifetime and we are all fortunate to be experiencing it year after year.

As I sat back and basked in the glow of the 1st seed and the demise of the Jets (the declared Superbowl Champs in July by their own coach), I decided to lurk around the Jets fan forums and I was amazed by what I was reading considering this team just came off a loss in Chicago. Mine you, I understand they clinched a playoff spot with the Jags losing, but I was in shock by the arrogance of the posts from the Jet fans. Here's a couple of nuggets:

* We lost to a great team today. Nothing to hang our heads down about that. Cutler could be an MVP candidate if not for Vick and Brady having crazy good seasons. No worries!

* The Pats barely beat a backup QB last week. Many teams found their
weaknesses and how to attack Brady. Cannot wait to meet them up
there in Foxboro. Hope is snows too!

* We only lost to Miami, Chicago and New England. Three of the best
defenses in the league

* This team was not built for the regular season, it was built for the
playoffs. Bring on Kansas City and New England. This time Rex will
go for blood after Belly ran up the score on Monday night.

Seriously, is this what happens when you are beaten down over and over again? Do you lose all sense of reality? I didn't read over three posts that were upset over the Chicago loss! Just happiness being invited to the dance.

Jets fans probably still believe in Santa Clause. What else do they have????

It must suck because we just blew them out but then they got lucky and beat Pittsburgh and then they got their ass kicked by Chicago because of their ****iness

Didn't know Mike would be on today, nice.

Well, that's good that they can stay confident and optimistic. If it were this board the comments would be completely pessimistic.
