Re: Logan Mankins Greatest Patriots Offensive Guard sine John Hannah

The guys is a monster... I was not for paying him the money he's asking but I changed my mind. If we we can afford it, pay him. Literally, every single big run today, Mankins was highlighted as a key factor.

Re: Logan Mankins Greatest Patriots Offensive Guard sine John Hannah

I know it's just one play, but watch Mankins destroy Trevor Price on this play (the 50-yard shovel pass to Woodhead).

NFL Videos: Woodhead 50-yard run

Great view of it starting at about 0:20. He just annihilates him, blowing the hole open for Woodhead.

Beautiful.

Re: Logan Mankins Greatest Patriots Offensive Guard sine John Hannah

Even though I was on the side of the arguement to let Mankins have a role after he reports, I did not expect THIS kind of impact. The offense has been as good as the 2007 version the last 4 games scoring 38.5 PPG. Yeah, we need to keep him around. Hope Connolly and Vollmer are eventually locked up too that solidifies 60% of our line for the next 5+ years.

Re: Logan Mankins Greatest Patriots Offensive Guard sine John Hannah

I would agree with you if I hadn't observed the change in the collective mentality of the Patriots offensive line since his return. The entire unit is nasty because of Logan Mankins.

Pay the man.

Bingo. A TONE SETTER. Hopefully both parties realize they need each other.

Re: Logan Mankins Greatest Patriots Offensive Guard sine John Hannah

Mankins crushed Bart Scott, he brings a level of toughness, and frankly a little post play action, that makes you think twice about taking a cheap shot on Brady. mankins is an absolute Monster, and needs to be paid. Sign him now!!!!!

Some people don't realize the type of leadership that Mankins brings to the O-line. I'll admit that I thought that Connolly was doing a good job at LG, but it's clear now, that he wasn't. Mankins has changed the ENTIRE attitude of this line with his nastiness. It's one of those things that you don't notice until it happens.

To say that he's not a game changer is silly because the Pats running game has been much more consistent the last 5 weeks than it was the previous 7.

Re: Logan Mankins Greatest Patriots Offensive Guard sine John Hannah

I hated Mankins holdout and was all for trading him for whatever we could get, if he'd have only signed his tender before the trade deadline. He was asking for way too much money and when he shot his mouth off in a truly stupid and disastrous PR move, he was dead to me.
However, since he's come back a couple of things have become apparent (to me).

1) The line play is far better and Brady has had more time to throw the ball. If you value Brady in an upright position, signing Mankins ensures that there will be more of this.

2) I never would have admitted this before largely because I didn't see it but Logan Mankins makes all the other players on the O line better. Period!

We normally assume that LT is THE position of importance on the O line but from what I've seen since Mankins has come back, is that for whatever reason, in our case, it's the LG that matters most. He makes everyone around him better and there are not many players who we can say that about. TB, Big Vince, ?

With Neal all but done, Kazur a complete mystery and Koppen and Light on the back end of good careers, Mankins value is even more significant to the overall success of the team.

$8.5 million a year for a guard? In this case, hell ya!!!

Agreed, love his nasty streak.

what about vollmer this guy is amazing when he filled in for light he was awesome.now on right side he is a rock .no holding no penalties no nothing nobody gets by him he could take lights place with no worries .but nobody ever talks about him.our whole line is great but this guy seems like something special to me.

Re: Logan Mankins Greatest Patriots Offensive Guard sine John Hannah

we need to sign him. hes too talented and brings a nasty demeanor that we really dont see from our other linemen. hes just one tough SOB and im sure everyone would love to have him here for years to come. give this man a new contract, since hes came in, our blocking has gotten a lot better, especially in the run game

Re: Logan Mankins Greatest Patriots Offensive Guard sine John Hannah

The difference with him in there is striking considering he's "just" an OG.

Sign the beast.

Re: Logan Mankins Greatest Patriots Offensive Guard sine John Hannah

You often hear of players making other players better, well I'm convinced Mankins makes his fellow offensive linemen nastier. Light and Vollmer in particular seem to be playing much more angry with Mankins alongside them. It's great to watch.

Re: Logan Mankins Greatest Patriots Offensive Guard sine John Hannah

I still don't think they pay him 8M per year.

I have been very impressed with Vollmer's play, yes he has given up a few pressures here and there but he has been very consistent with his Good play.
