Could Vikings File a Claim for our 3rd Rd Draft Pick?

Also we should ask the NFL for an extra 2nd round pick next year, since the one we used in 2006 on Chad Jackson didn't work out the way we wanted it to.

the answer to your question is no. sucks for minnesota

I assume the Vikings gave Moss a phyisical. If they couldn't see how big an a$sh0le he was that's thier problem, not ours.

Hey, I've got an idea... let's sign Moss off waivers, then wait a couple of weeks and trade him to Minnesota AGAIN!

Breaking News:It has been reported,on good authority, that Brad Childress also will be making a claim to the NFL office regarding a quart of strawberries. The aforesaid fruit, were discovered as missing by Childress, shortly before the 2-minute warning of yesterday's 28-18 loss to the Patriots.

Asked if Randy Moss or Bill Belichick were possibly involved,Childress replied:"I wouldn't put anything past those guys and if this is true, someone's gonna get their ass, waived".

When pressed to comment Belichick demurred, saying only:"Leave the gun, take the strawberries".

They can have the 3rd back...

for a 2012 2nd rounder

Buyer beware.

Being stupid enough to give up a 3rd is bad enough. Crying about it and acting like a baby makes it twice as bad. A refund

Too late. The Vikings just put a waiver claim on Moss.

Bizzare scenerio, Some how RM comes back and plays the Jests for a third time

Couldn't help but think of Rexy's presser after we traded Randy to Minny.

Where he said something to the affect of: "Now if the Vikings trade him back to NE, that would be gamesmanship".

I wonder if dropping him and having him clear wavers only to return to NE counts in Rexy's mind? :D

He may have to eat several snacks to figure out the answer to that question.

Screw that! How could that possibly be justified? He played three freakin' games for them and they decided to dump him. Their loss.

Yeah. I don't think there's a chance they win that claim. I don't believe the NFL would entertain that . . . I don't even know how it's possible they could file a claim.

no link, but just saw on nfl network that the vikings would file a claim with the nfl to get that pick back .. oh wow ..

Nope, Can't be done. They traded for him and they waived him - That's their doing.

That pick is ours now, it's on record in the NFL's office.

You have think, with the reputed lack of love between Chilli and Hoodie, that there had to be at least a phone call placed to the league offices by Minnesota to see if there was a way to weasel out of it.

Patriots have resorted to stealing draft picks now that signal steeling is harder. :p

Presumably they'll have to claim that the Patriots misrepresented the player in some way, or conspired to have him harm his new team? "This turned out crappy" is obviously not grounds for reneging on a deal.

What's more...the Patriots did lose the player, so how can they not get their compensation? They can try to VOID the trade, but then they'd have to give Moss back, not waive him.

Edit: I'm coming back to bold the above. If you feel the trade wasn't valid, you file to void it. You can't strip the team of the player then refuse to pay them the pick.

But the Pats then traded to get Branch from Seattle, who, in order to fill Branch's shoes, ended up making roster moves of their own. So in order for the league to overturn this (99.99999999999% sure it'll never ever happen, but hey, there's always a Jim Carrey, Dumb and Dumber, one in a million shot it'll happen), they'd have to overturn the Pats-Seattle deal as well.

If they are actually doing this (I haven't checked, is it confirmed?) it's really mindnumbingly stupid, and embarrassing for their fans.

It's like if you try to bluff in poker, the next guy calls your bluff, and you try and pull your chips off the table.

No, Goodell would look at the Seattle deal as well and force us to give a #1 back to Seattle after we rooked them by trading Branch to them for a few years, and then getting him back for a 4th rounder. He'd see this as part of a pattern. Next up: we resign Seymour in the offseason after drafting his understudy.
