They should of Kept Danny Woodhead!(merged)

Re: NYJ- Thank you for Danny Woodhead [Thread]

The Jets simply mis-used Woodhead as a receiver. They cut him to make a space for Clowney (who they later cut for Holmes).

Not sure how they see McKnight. If McKnight is to be the future Leon Washington/LdT, a third down back, they would have been better off keeping Woodhead.

Not that I am complaining.

That's exactly how I see it. Woodhead is a 3rd-down back. McKnight is SUPPOSED to be a 3rd-down back, but has been flailing from the day he was drafted. (And frankly, he flailed quite a bit in college, too.) Woodhead out-performed McKnight handily in training camp.

They kept McKnight because:
A. He's a tremendous pure athlete, and they believe a guy like that can do something for them, even if only on special teams;
B. They just traded up to grab him in the draft, and many teams stubbornly cling to rookies based on their draft status.

Given that he's only been active for 1 game, B has to be a significant part of the equation.

How would you like to go through life with that name, i know i wouldn't.

"Woodhead" can't be a walk in the park either!

Danny Woodhead, the latest great name of the Patriots Jets rivalry.

Sure, he didn't fit now, but how much could he have helped in the future? Is LT going to keep playing like this all year? How about next year? Was it worth keeping 2 fullbacks?

Jet's fans will be slamming their heads into the wall over this one for years. I love it!

I agree with that, maybe thats why he's such a tough son of beeotch.

The "little wood that could's" attitude seems to be more in tune with the Pats then the Jets. I just love to watch little guys in a big guys game. Ballsy little sum*****.

I love our "Little Buddy"!

Those are all of the posts that I saw on there that either didn’t have anything to do with the subject at hand (IE- whether they should have drafted McKnight or not, sarcastic posts about fantasy football, etc.) or were strictly against keeping Woodhead stating that he was a better fit with New England, was a product of our system, that there was no room for him on the Jets roster, and so on. So yes, as you can see, scanning through 7 of 17 pages of the thread CAN, indeed, give you a good idea of where the general opinions are going. As you can see, the VAST majority of the posters in that thread either don’t care about Woodhead either way or feel that he wouldn’t have been able to see the field or make the impact in New York the way he has in New England.

As for using a .GIF as an insult, why would I ever waste such ingenuity on you? I’m not sure what your issue is with me since you’ve been on here, but, through that, I’ve come to determine that using the brain cells to come up with a truly clever insult for you would be a gigantic waste of my time. Instead I’ll just stick with .GIF’s from threadbombing.com, comparisons to train wrecks and super obese women, and calling you a gigantic jagoff in general.

Now, as for the topic at hand, I agree that the Jets shouldn’t have let him go. Yes, they have LT and Greene. However, McKnight hasn’t shown that he’s capable of being a good third down back in this league after those two. On top of that, it’s only going to be a matter of time before LT’s body wears down throughout the winter and Green sustains some type of injury because of the way he runs. Moving Clowney off of their roster in order to keep Woodhead, if only to keep him away from the Pats, would have been an excellent move in their favor. Fortunately for us, the Jets DID let him go and we’ve reaped the benefits.
