Merged: Speculation on additional WRs

Re: Are there any WR we can add to the team?

Taylor Price

It'll be interesting to see what Taylor Price can add to the mix. He's got good size and speed, a pretty physical receiver. He seemed to be having a good camp early on, but seemed to struggle in preseason games. Hopefully he gets his chance. I also liked Darnell Jenkins in preseason, he seemed pretty explosive. This gives the young guys a chance to show what they can do.

Re: What is the asking price for Vincent Jackson again?

the guy has baggage of his own and is 1 strike away from another long suspension...no chance pats go for it

Re: What is the asking price for Vincent Jackson again?

Jack isn't cheap anymore!

But I'd pull the trigger on a 2nd and 3rd if the front office thinks he isn't going to be a head case moving forward.

Not much chance of that.

I'll pass on Jackson.

Re: What is the asking price for Vincent Jackson again?

straight cash homie!

Re: What is the asking price for Vincent Jackson again?

Our offense is going to blow if we don't grab atleast another WR.

Re: Are there any WR we can add to the team?

Because we have the Best QB of all time

Does this mean he can throw himself the ball?

Having a great QB is meaningless if he has nobody to throw to. I guess we'll find out in a coupe of weeks how much we did or did not need Moss

Re: What is the asking price for Vincent Jackson again?

The drinking problem can be fixed, make VJ sign a contract that will give the Pats the opprotunity to void the contract if he gets drunk and drive

Re: Are there any WR we can add to the team?

Might be time to call up Reche Caldwell

Wow, what a terrifying group of WR's we're coming at your with

Look out, Brandon Tate on one side and I don't know, let's see, Taylor Price, no um wait let's pick up Reche Caldwell and drop in over there, we'll be fine.

Hello safeties in the box and hello to TB frustration

I'd give a second & third for Jackson. I would even consider our first if SD came back with a 4th or 5th.
Is the Jackson contract really going to be that much higher than what they are going to have to pay the draft pick for the Raiders pick (if they use it)
And they have some dough leftover from whatever they budgeted for Mankins
Take the proven player in Jackson.

We wouldn't be able to get the 2nd & 3rd round draft picks, though.

Re: What is the asking price for Vincent Jackson again?

I believe the asking price was two 2nd's, and Minnesota was only offering a 2nd and a 3rd a few weeks ago. May have gotten that wrong, but I think that was it.

Jackson may accept a more reasonable deal at this point seeing as he's on course for earning virtually nothing this year.

Exactly ! I said the same thing in another thread. How difficult is it to put a provision in a contract that if you have another infraction, the contract is null and void. It's not rocket science. Pretty simple stuff, low risk high reward, a no brainer. I remember Chris Carter back when he was with the Eagles, he got cut for a cocaine problem, got signed by the Vikings, and the rest is legendary history. Went on to become one of the greatest WR's of all time. We have a sh*tload of draft choices, get it done ! It's a no brainer.

I heard Dwayne Jarret was released for drinking and driving.

I would certainly give our first seing as will will most likely have a late first type pick in the Carolina one. If we really wanted to we could easily package the third from Moss and the Carolina pick to move into the early 20's of the first.

Don't know if its been posted but...
Trade market for Vincent Jackson shrinks - AFC West Blog - ESPN
Minnesota just brought back Randy Moss in a trade with New England for a third-round pick. Last month, Minnesota had a deal in place for Jackson, but the Vikings couldn't agree on compensation terms with the Chargers in a deal for the holdout Pro Bowl receiver. The Vikings offered a second-round pick and a conditional pick. The Chargers wanted a second and third-round pick for Jackson.
The natural question now is if New England will make a run at Jackson now that they have a hole at receiver? New England has the draft picks to get a deal done, but I highly, I mean highly, doubt San Diego would trade Jackson to an AFC contender. All of the other teams talking to the Chargers about Jackson were NFC teams and that was by the Chargers’ design.
Seriously our 2nd and the third and maybe a late round pick should get it done as the Chargers seem ok without jackson.

Available receivers?

They aren't replacing Moss, but could use a vet receiver to go with Tate, the TEs and WW and WWII IMO.

Someone came up with a list of available FA before, but i don't know from where. Also small time trades to teams with WR depth would be interesting.

Re: Available receivers?

TORRY HOLT - I don't know the rules on this one. We placed him on IR, but then effectively cut him. Is he a FA that we can sign once he's healthy?

DAVID PATTEN - Another guy who is clearly over the hill but might be good for depth or at least as a leader figure for the young receiving corps.

DEION BRANCH - The Seahawks may be willing to part with him, the other Deon (Butler) seems to be playing well and what passing offense they have seems to run through Carlson.

That's about it. I'd think it wouldn't make sense to bring a guy in who wasn't familiar with the team, quarterback or the system at this point. I guess you could add SAM AIKEN and KELLEY WASHINGTON into the mix - both would be primarily ST, so would have some added value in that sense.

Re: Available receivers?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Torry Holt brought back.

Hank Baskett, Marty Booker, Antonio Bryant, Mark Bradley, Demetrius Byrd, Laverneus Coles, Kevin Curtis, Chris Davis, Devard Darling, Greg Lewis.

Also, Jenkins could be signed from the practice squad.

Maybe I should try out
