Danny Woodhead Bandwagon Thread

I felt when the Pats signed this guy, he could be a Kevin Faulk type and actually could fill in for Faulk at times. I guess that estimate could be a little on the low side.

That's why I said size-related reason. There are a truckload of reasons why Woodhead isn't ready to replace Faulk. Size isn't one of them.
I didn't catch that, so yeah Faulk isn't much bigger so i don't see why not. Besides Woody is very young and will probably put some more wgt on.

When that little white dude in a Pats jersey took his first hand-off, everyone in the bar was looking around thinking they had just hallucinated.... after we all figured it out, someone said it looks like the Pats suited up their accountant to be the replacement for Faulk. From then on, we just called him "the accountant" :rocker:

I think he got kicked out of New York for looking like Jimmy Fallon.

I was pleasantly surprised by him :)

Looked like a good little player :)

One word .....Experiance. Faulk has seen everything little Woody is a rookie remember?

He is not a rookie. It is his second year. Although he rushed for almost as many yards yesterday as he did in a year with the Jets.

"The Flying WEDGE??"

DAMN. That is SERIOUSLY Old School!! :rocker:

And 312 rushing yards, 217 receving yards and 4 touchdowns later, the bandwagon is rolling along quite rapidly. :D

I'm amazed at how quickly he's learned the system and contributed for us. And if you listen to him talk during press conferences, you think, this guy was born to be a Patriot.

On the downside, I could see Faulk not having a roster spot next season. Woody has done such a great job and BB is not the sentimental type. I think it would be tough, but I think Woody's our guy moving forward.

I agree. As sad as I would be to see Faulk leave the team, it would probably be in our best interest. It's funny because when I heard about the Patriots picking this guy up my intitial reaction was "Who the heck is that guy?". I am so happy with this pickup and how well it turned out because losing Faulk was such a blow to our already banged up and mediocre RB crew. BJGE has also looked very good this season.

Kevin Faulk will turn 35 years old prior to the start of the 2011 NFL Season. Danny Woodhead is here to stay.

Faulk would probably sign with us for one year for dirt cheap. Imagine 2 RB/3 WR sets with Faulk and Woodhead lining up next to Brady.

I think Faulk retires. There is 0 shame in that, he is commonly known as one of the best 3rd down backs in the league, and certainly one of the best in recent history. He is certainly a player whose statline is very deceiving.

Wow, even if Faulk is 35 years old I would be scared to defend that. I hope that he signs another year with us because he is more than just a good player. He's a great leader and sets a good example for other players. Plus, Faulk has aged very well and his production hasn't dropped at all. He may not be get too many carries next year, but I am sure that he will still put up good numbers and be productive.

Personally I'd rather have a DeMarco Murray or Mark Ingram (if he declares for the NFL draft) than Kevin Faulk for the 2011 NFL Season.

I'd take either of them as well.

I have to change my opinion of Woodhead's blocking. I think I am a little more comfortable with it at this point- he seems to have adjusted and learned quickly. Right now he seems to have developed a great low diving move that takes out a lot of rushers. I am just concerned that some of the rushers are going to evolve and learn to jump over him.

You are right on multiple fronts. BB is not the sentimental type, there may not be a spot for Faulk in '11 and it is unfortunate. Faulk is a gamer and a Patriot kind of player. Woody is also a gamer and a Patriot kind of player. But Woody, at least next year, probably comes cheaper, plays special teams (something BB loves) and has potentially unrealized upside. Faulk is too far on the wrong side of 30, his potential is realized and ST is not where he will be.

I'd hate to see Faulk, if he still has "game", not be on the Patriots. I suspect BB will see it that way too....meaning it wouldn't totally surprise me to see BB find a way to have them both on the roster. Otherwise, if Faulk isn't looking for a new team and the full year of play, maybe we get lucky and he is happy to be a Seau type 'I'll play when needed and/or the eventual and inevitable injury opens up a roster spot'.

Woody always goes low. And I'm surprised guys don't leap over him anyways, even when he doesn't ;) But he's done a great job and I don't worry about him in the backfield picking up a blitzer.

I'd love to see Faulk for one more year as insurance, a guy who could help mentor our young running backs (hoping we draft one and get rid of some of the older guys like Morris and/or Taylor), but I also wouldn't be surprised if he retires mid-training camp like Bruschi and Patten did. Love Faulk, just being a realist.
