With 2 ones next year is there any one player you would trade up for?

calvin johnson or gaines adams

Marcus Mccauley.

A better overall prospect than Richard Marshall was one year ago.

O i just thought it was players who we wanted i didnt know it was trading up for.

Either way i'd rather have both Leon Hall from Michigan and Mccauley from Fresno. Those would be two picks worth taking with overall number 1's.

Calvin Johnson from GT

Alan Branch DL Michigan. The guy is a beast. I know we have a great DL, but BB has said, I'm always looking for another Richard Seymour. And this guy is the best prospect Ive seen in awhile. He's only a junior but with his draft stock soaring one would think he will come out.

Short answer No. There is no one in this draft that I would trade 2 first round picks for. We should be able to add two impact players with the picks. I would even like them try to trade one of the picks for a 2nd and 3rd. Giving us a 1st, two 2nds, two 3rds for a total of 5 first day picks. In most drafts there are typically 10-15 quality players and then a bunch from 20-60 that are not all that different.

Johnson is the only one who may be worth it, he will likely be a top 3 prospect and even our two first rounders won't be enough to get into the top five.

NFL Draft Trade Value Chart
Our picks should be between 25 & 32, roughly 600 to 700 each. Giving us a total of say 1300. We could potentially trade our picks for a the 8th pick.

I agree about Branch being a beast and I could easily argue that Woodley and Burgess are very over rated and beneficiaries of the havoc Branch is waging in the middle of the OL play after play and week after week.

I would not trade up for anyone in this draft. Last draft it would have been Hawk.

I agree with you cstjohn17.

I don't know where they'd put Branch.

Antoine Cason is supposedly a good cover and ball skills guy. Don't know if that'd merit a 1st round selection. Leon Hall as long as he's not a stiff like Marlin Jackson.

Right now, the player I want in this draft above all others is OT Sam Baker of USC. As a junior he is somewhat under the radar, and overshadowed by more heralded but maybe less talented seniors like Joe Thomas. There is a chance he could slip as a result and the Pats could nab him with Seattle's pick between 20-25 in rd 1. A dominant left tackle would be fantastic. The next two picks (#32 and #64) would go back 8 on the D.

With the Pats having all of their O-line signed long term, I highly doubt they look at an O-line. But stranger things have happened.

I wouldn't mind another John Hannah if your going to go OL.
Anyone that could be 1/2 as good as him...ha ha

*cough* Logan Mankins *cough*

Seriously, though, I'm starting to think that the Pats have so many picks--relative to their needs--that they're likely to trade into the 2008 draft.

You're right, I'm just grasping at straws. It's hard to get excited about any of these prospects. The draft is like wine and this year isn't a 2000 Bordeaux.

Its nice to have extra picks.

I certainly agree having more players instead of giving up two #1 draft picks to move up in the draft what if that one player turns out to be a bust I think you stand a better chance of two players not being a bust compared to just one and with that being said I like Leon Hall and Antoine Cason right now but I would not move up by giving up my #1 picks no way.

There's not a lot in this draft that I find really tempting. Woodley is one. Kinda reminds me of this year's Bobby Carpenter... maybe a bit more accomplished, but certainly less experienced working from a 2-pt stance stuff.

Other than that... I still like Zibikowski as a hard hitting SS and leader in the secondary. Maybe Ted Ginn as our deep threat and a guy to compete for PR duty. I like Posluszny (if he falls) as a Katzenmoyer clone wth more heart. And Marcus McCauley, if he has the hip turn he needs to go with the size and speed.

But none of them are guys I'd trade up for. Maybe trade into the late teens for Ginn or Woodley, but no one worth two first round picks.

I want to know more about Gaines Adams and Quentin Moses, two highly touted tweeners, who I haven't seen play. On paper, they sound like Chad Brown.

I would pick

Leon Hall CB
Marcus Mc CB
Antoine Cason CB

with 2 picks in teh 1st

LBs

Oscar Lua 3-5th
Buster Davis 2nd-3rd
Prescott Burgess 3rd
Anthony Spencer 2nd-4th

Safeties

Josh GAttis 3rd-4th

Pick 2 LBs, 2 CBs, plus possibly another later round CB like Aaron Ross, and a safety.

That should do it.

On offense, maybe a TE and WR. Blocking TEs shouldn't need a high draft pick, maybe a 5th or 6th.
