Help me out here. Maybe I am reading too much into these comments, but is Brady (subtly) saying he is not happy with the playcalling?

...After you start running the same routes six or seven times, they start jumping stuff. I just wish we had a few more of those plays early on.

Q: Getting back to tonight, the no huddle worked really well on your touchdown drive. Is that something that you thought of maybe --

TB: Yes. It was the fourth quarter and we have got to try to create some momentum for ourselves and up the tempo. We did that. It was a good drive to go down there and score. I would like to do that three or four times a night.

Is he saying he would like to score 3-4 times a game, or that he would like to run the no-huddle 3-4 times a game?

Another interesting aspect of his PC was not taking any individual responsibility. Not that I am saying it is all his fault, of course it isn't, but have you ever seen a post-game loss PC where Tom doesn't say something to the effect of "I need to play better" " I should have made better throws"...etc.

I think you may be on to something. Brady's the master of throwing himself under the bus. Hmmm, maybe there's some dissention in the ranks.

I like this quote though - its from the same press conference.

Q: Tom, how much of an impact is it on you as a quarterback against the team with a pressure defense like Denver, not having (Deion) Branch and (David) Givens out there?

TB: Oh, man, I am just so far past that at this point. I'm just dealing with the guys we have. I think the guys we've got are playing hard and trying to do the right thing. And we are all growing in this together. So Doug (Gabriel) has been on our team basically for three weeks now, so we are trying to get him up to speed. Reche (Caldwell), it's his first season. Laurence (Maroney), we have a lot of moving parts coming together. We are trying to make improvements each week and, you know, I am proud of the fight we have. We just didn't play well enough and that is what it comes down to. When you play a team, Denver didn't make any mistakes and they didn't do anything to hurt themselves. You know, I thought they played pretty well. So I wish we could have played up to that level. I wish we could have put some pressure on them by hitting a few more plays there in the first half. You know, we just weren't able to do that.

Its not good, I did not hear his stuff ,but he is not into football this yr as much as he has been in the past...

Brady is right on both counts. I said it before and I'll say it again. Had NE gone no huddle with Brady in the gun every time that they had the ball starting in realistic field position (i.e. outside the 20), they would have put up at least 17 points.

I take it that Brady's "Same Routes" comment is aimed at the fact that he has a bunch of new WRs that aren't ready to run any more than that in a game situation. Troy Brown is really the only WR out there that knows what the hell he's supposed to be doing.

As far as the no huddle.. As much as NEM will love to hear it, I'd love to see more of it, and more of Gabriel running those chain-moving routes too.

That's what I said.

Hurry up = WIN

Actually, I too have mentioned the "same routes" problem...many times, that all McDaniels calls are out patterns and sidelin flys, with an occasional toss inside at the seams..NO SLANTS, NO CROSSINGS..... with McDaniels calling the plays, we have become a very east to defend opponent.

NEM is still available to help.....

I'm thinking a guy like Belichick might respond better to NEM if NEM stopped using the third person references. :)

Really....didnt I say that two weeks ago...and everyone mailed me on it.

Even Brady now sees that the NEMster was right about the abysmal play calling, continuing to call the same plays fromthe sidleine that havent worked and expecting a different result.

I think that, strategically placed, the no huddle had its place in the first two games. However, there was a big difference between those and the Denver game.

NE could not run for anything yesterday.

With as much rushing success as they were generating vs. Buff and NYJ, it wasn't as necessary to go hurry up, as it was pretty certain that a few first downs would be generated and the 3rd downs would be of moderate distances.

Vs. Denver, however, rushing from the I formation was tanatmount to forfeiting a down. With the hurry up, you can still use screens and draws as a defacto-run game, and the D will not be as equipped to stop it.

So, I do and don't agree with you. The hurry up should not be used as frequently as you desire, but yesterday was tailor made for it. And yet they balked. I don't know why.

Clearly we are missing the timed crossing routes that Charlie loved to call. We didn't see a whole bunch of them last season and we haven't seen to many this season either.

I haven't seen a QB throwing his team under the bus like that since the choker in Indy did it! He never did mention his play as a possible reason, he's going to kill our locker room...I'm telling you guys, he needs to (at the VERY least) ride pine until he decides to get 100% behind the team, instead of looking to blame, the recievers, the coaches, the play calling, the front office. It won't stop, he took less money to keep other players here, they left anyway, now he feels betrayed and it's festering in his mind. He's not happy and it's not going to get better. I fear this is going to hurt the team in the long run.

Or maybe he is done saying he needs to do better. He knows what he can do and its time for the wr's to step up.

I don't think Brady is going to cover for anyone in the Pats organization. Be it players or coaches. He has 3 SB rings and alot of credibility in the locker
room.

He may have reached the point where he says let things just play out.

It's posts like this that make me question people's sanity. I'm serious. Get help, or stop watching football. Something.

The route design currently being used is killing this offense and frustrating the hell out of Brady. Every route is either vertical(fly and seam routes) or sideline oriented, meaning that DB's playing an inside technique will force Brady to make near-perfect throws over the top. The offense used to feature layered crossing routes and wham routes to the outside, all nearly impossible to cover man-to-man. These routes do require a little more time to develop, but protection has been decent overall (minus the 2 blindside strips), which makes abandoning these routes idiotic. They nee to pressure the safeties and the middle of the field to be successful.

You win the ****** award of the day. Congratulations, Moron.:singing:

I understand Brady and the new receivers aren't on the same page yet but watching him over-throw and under-throw them when they were open and 'hitable' was painful to say the least. I see light at the end of the tunnel though.
I like Gabriel's attitude and he appears to be emerging as a go to guy which should help free up Troy Brown. Couple that situation with a healthy Jackson and we should see the 'cool' fire burning once again in Brady. Might even be enough to put the smile back on his face.

Gabriel and Jackson should both be 'go to' guys down the road. Be nice for Tom to have a solid 1-2 punch out there once again. Add in the always dangerous Brown and things look a lot better the rest of the way. Once these guys are all on the field together and in sync that is.
