Al: Monty Beisel didnâ€™t endear himself to New England fans with his poor play as one of the teamâ€™s starting inside linebackers early in the season. He endeared himself even less when he allegedly took a swing at a Boston beat writer who wrote an unflattering article about Beisel, and then berated a New England public relations worker for allowing the reporter near his locker. Iâ€™m guessing Beisel wonâ€™t see the second year of the two year contract he signed this past off-season.

And you would most likely be wrong, Monty was a rehab project to start with coming from the Chiefs' speed kills system into the Patriots' technique and power game. He has shown flashes of talent all season, and his time of the bench allowed his education to catch up some of the talent.

The Jacksonville game demonstrated to me how far he has come, plugging holes with the bodies of offensive players is a favorite Patriot ILB practice and Monty 'done good' in that department when I broke down the first half. Tedy was suited up and didn't play, credit Monty as much as anyone else for giving Tedy another week of rest.

I expect the kid to be here, and both a solid and trusted contributor in 2006. Those in fantasyland about his wife can make your stranded on a desert island dream plans now.

Thanks Box, was wondering how he'd look on your breakdown in the Jax game, thought he looked much improved while watching it live.

), in the parking lot, you can always skim through the break down and look for the highlights which feature Beisel a couple times - there were more mentions, but I think I only highlighted him twice.

I did check out some, will have to check out the new additions as soon as I'm done in The 'Lot.

We have to get our priorities straight here. First "the lot' then the breakdown.

Monty did play very well last week. I'm sure his wife was proud of him.

Showed clips of him against JAX on the Fox Tailgate show. Looked a lot better than he used to.

I have been a huge Beisel critic this year, but I agree his play in JAX game was very encouraging. He could have easily been credited with a sack in the first half when he tackled the RB deep in the backfield.

The ILB depth issue partially resolved

Besiel had a pretty good Jacksonville game. I htink it was very significant that he was not asked to call defesnive signals. Vrabel the once and future coach did that. Without having to worry about that responsibility all he had to do was play starting from where Vrabel positioned him.

Now we know we have something for depth at ILB next year,even before the draft. Two signal callers and four ILBs. Two good starters and two fairly good reserves.

Unoticed and unremarked was the job Chatham did at ILB against Miami in the year end game. He had double digit tackles.

We remember him filling in pretty well at OLB a few years a go for 3 -4 games as a starter and holding his own, now he has done that at ILB as well.

And Claridge will return from IR and we'll see what we have there too...
