Tom Brady absent from Patriots' voluntary offseason workouts | National Football Post

Things change when you become a family man,No more Brady is the first guy in the building,I hope he gets back and works out with these guys A.S.A.P.

We need some organization and symetry between Brady and his receivers this year.

Personally my feeling is that with Brady on the edge of a new contract, I would hope Brady would have shown up,but as BB says it is what it is and maybe not such a big deal perhaps.

time to ink brady and get him in camp or draft Mccoy... *waits for it*

Re: Brady to stay in Los Angeles during offseason workouts

I have always been a huge Brady fan and I can understand this decision as a
father of two young children.

It does make me wonder, "Just how important is football to Tom Brady today".

The guy who use to win the best parking spot has been replaced with a
guy who is out to save the rain forest.

I miss the Pre-Gisele - Tom Brady !

Re: Brady to stay in Los Angeles during offseason workouts

Did I miss the "voluntary" part of this training camp. I get that he always showed up early but his personal life has changed. Once he starting missing mandatory training camps, then I will get worried.

Re: Brady to stay in Los Angeles during offseason workouts

The guy has a family now, that comes first.

And who exactly is he going to throw the ball to right now? David Patten? Sam Aiken? Give me a break, Moss isn't there, Welker is on crutches, we haven't signed a FA wide receiver and we won't have rookie wideouts until April.

I think people are confusing these offseason workouts with the passing camps.

Damnit, no QB has ever won a Super Bowl when having young children. We are so screwed.

Oh man, this one's going to get good.

Re: Brady to stay in Los Angeles during offseason workouts

Normally I would expect Brady to be around to show early leadership in this locker room, even considering his new family situation. But consider Brady's recent timeline...

- Pressure pursuing perfect season
- Beat up at the end of 2007
- Historic kick-to-the-groin loss to the Giants
- Devastating injury in 2008
- Complications after surgery
- Year-long recovery
- Rollercoaster comeback performances
- Beat up throughout 2009
- Disappointing home playoff loss to the Ravens where he sucks the tailpipe

Dude needs to be away from football/rehab for a while and just get his second wind. He needs to come back as Brady 2.0 and leave 2007-2009 behind. There are plenty of grown-ups around to make sure the team comes together during voluntary workouts.

Brady's not a leader.

Don't blame the messenger,I said it was probably not a big deal, but thought this would be a good one for those looking to complain :)

Tebow could be drafted here as our next fullback or Tight End,A QB he is not

Good. He's not missing anything he doesn't know. His #1 leadership concern is at home. If he unnecessarily misses anything AFTER the draft, I'd be more concerned.

I guess you missed the National Championships and Heisman Trophy he won as QB. If anyone has the desire to succeed it's Tebow, he did a great job cleaning up his throwing motion and will continue to improve and be the hardest worker on the team.

May I also point out that Cassel stunk when he initially took over for Brady but he developed into a fine QB by the end of the season, there is no reason why Tebow cannot develop as well.

^^^ What he said.

I think people need to consider the other side of the coin here. If he spends no time with his son in Cali during the offseason, what kind of problem do you think that causes for him during the season when he really has even less chance to see him? Ideally, he would be able to be here in Foxboro during the entire offseason, but this isn't an ideal world. He just needs to get here by the passing camps.

What receivers ? Maybe that's what Brady is waiting for before he shows up.

Re: Brady to stay in Los Angeles during offseason workouts

People make a far bigger deal out of this than they should. Brady's no longer a scrawny 25 year old still needing to work on his mechanics. There has been and still are a lot of veterans who miss the voluntary workout sessions. It speaks nothing about Brady's commitment to football. The guy did show up on time for that snow storm where Moss, Thomas, etc. were sent home and it was the day after his kid was born.

For those blaming his new wife and baby, they're fine living here. However, Jack's mother lives in California and according to Felger's sources yesterday it's a custody agreement visitation issue that requires him to be in California at this time. They get to have him here for short periods in season, but extended visits in the off season take place in the state in which his mother resides.
