Reportedly it was a 5th Rd pick. I agree this is a really nice move by the Pats.

Don't be so quick to think this is bad judgement on Davis' part. First, we don't know what we gave up for him. Second, I believe he is coming into his final contract year (4th year, just a guess he had a 4 year contract). .
He's signed through the end of next year. That's 2 for the Pats.

:rocker: Remember to call him Chump now.. :D

Not to rub salt into the wound but it was just reported that we gave up a 5th rounder for him. Seeing that we will be in the 32nd spot, it will be like a 6th.

Thanks for posting that vid, guy.

Honestly i would only be happy if it were a 2nd or a 1st rounder but seeing that wasnt going to happen i set my self up for that... Im not too worried as a football stand point, but i was a huge fan of this guy... and he has the feeling of future NFL star...

Cosigned. Un-freaking-believable that Gabs went for a 5th round pick. I'm seriously borderline physically ill right now. I mean, I KNOW we're stocked at WR and we've got a logjam of talent.. Curry and Morant are just as solid and just as big (bigger) than Gabs.. but Gabs was such a solid citizen and hard worker, hate to see the kid go. I would have been fine with giving up a 5th rounder for ****head Porter right about now.. but GABS? FRIGGING GABS? Ugh.

I remember that lift-and-toss against Chump that game.. so sweet. I believe that was the game that Chump got burned for 3 or 4 TDs also, no?

BTW.. same 'droid that went to the Chargers game in the luxury box with the Raiderforum/Endzone group? If so.. sup! If not.. "sup, brutha!" anyway. ;)

Late,

~T.

sounds too good to be true

Hmmm, well we know the fifth year doesn't count now don't we. Thanks for the correction. 2 years left and only a fifth rouder to the Raiders? Does seem like a good deal for the Patriots. If he is a player, it's a great deal. The Raiders must have been in a position where they felt they had to free up the roster spot, needed draft picks, or see something about this guy that was troubling. Otherwise it has to be Al is not a Branch fan and wanted to pitch in against him. Bet you didn't think of that angle?

The Raider's WR corps will survive this as usual. Their WR corps are always loaded with talented walkons. You'd be suprised how many good wr's have been cut in their camps that could probably make excellent practice squad players for other teams with hopes of eventually making the team. As it is right now they are still deep with talent at WR.

But why they let him go for a 5th is beyond me? I'm sure they could of gotten a 3rd from the Jet's? I guess we were in the right place at the right time. Or maybe in the process of getting our 5th they felt confident enough in Porter or Curry that they could save a valuable roster spot.

Anyway I'm pretty stoked for the deal and am now ready for Branch's departure whether it be for Seattles 1st or the Jet's 2nd. TBH I think Gabriel is very simliar to Branch in talent. Not with the hands and routes, but with speed and separation we will see the difference.
