D. Jackson might be hurt. I think this is why the Seahawks have expressed interested in Branch.
They definitely need a top end WR and the player in discussion would seem to be a good fit for their WC offense. Jackson is still not playing and the season starts next week. They have depth but their only above average WR is Burleson until/unless Jackson gets back.

The only one I' ve seen so far worth a look is Lee Mays. the rest of them are damaged goods or head cases. I don't know what the problem is with Mays but he might be better than BAM.

I never liked the Seahawk receivers, D. Jackson always drops the big ball.

I hate to ruin a good joke but his name isn't Frishman, it's Frisman Jackson.

As in "Freeze"

"Frisman Jackson just iced this game"
"Frisman Jackson is on a bit of a cold streak"

Lee Mays from PIT was released, he hasn't played much but why does his name ring a bell, did he do something in a Pats game once? Or am I thinking of Lee Flowers?

Lee Mays can't be counted on. Every year he was the camp phenom but then when it comes to gametime he freezes. It's been reported that he'd often puke bofore games (and no not in the Bill Russell type way of getting it done and over with and proceeding on).
Another former PIT WR Troy Edwards was released from the Jags. He's bounced around but would fit nicely in the Pats system. He's been kind of a headcase as far as thinking he's the man after being drafted high in the first round but maybe getting cut by the Steelers, Rams, and now JAx has humbled him a bit. Fast shifty guy and is also a good punt returner.

i think we should throw a pick at Denver for Todd Devoe. i think he's ready to break out, but might be fourth or fifth on their depth chart. he could be a starter for us.

Trade Branch for Coles and a pick. Sign Charles Rogers. Then breathe easier.

Coles
Caldwell
Rogers
Brown
Jackson

plus

Watson
Graham (who isn't being messed up and holding out like Branch although he could easily be doing that too)
Thomas
Mills
Maroney
Faulk
Dillon

gives us more then enough firepower.

Sorry Bam Bam

If Coles is healthy, that would be an absolute steal for the Pats. I like the way you think, I wish the Pats FO thought like you.

Not a WR but I figured I'd throw this out there for a FYI:

Zac Jackson, of ClevelandBrowns.com, reports Cleveland Browns LB Justin Kurpeikis has been released from the team.

The Seahawks aren't a team in NEED of WRs. They have 4 good ones in Darrell Jackson, Bobby Engram, DJ Hackett, and Nate Burleson. It was going to be tough for Warrick to make that team. And he may have asked for his release if he couldn't be out Hackett.

I really like D.J. Hackett, maybe we can trade Branch and a 4th for Hackett and a 1st (or 2nd). I was really impressed with Hackett. Good size and speed.

I wonder what is going on with Warrick. Peter's best season amounts to about the same stats Wretched Caldwell accumulated in his entire career! My guess is Warrick is suffering from a masive ego bruise due to never becoming the mega-star he seemed destined for out of college.

He's got more talent than any active player in our WR corps, that is beyond dispute. Maybe if he finally realizes he might be at the end of the NFL road unless he screws his head back on right (ala Sullivan) he could return to being a very productive WR with dangerous speed.

Unless Warrick still has a monster contract he'll likely never make it through waivers to the Pat's anyway - Jets or Jax might grab him first.

Charles Rogers is a talentless bum who's made it worse by doing drugs.

Why would anybody want that pile?

The Packers might release Rod Gardner. He's a talentless bum who hasn't been caught.

If you want a guy who makes 1st-down catches, works his butt off on every play, and overachieves as a habit, watch for the Bengals to release Antonio Chatman. On an open-minded team like the Patriots, he could become a blue-collar success. He's had a hip injury all preseason and has not been able to practice, so he might be cut.

If Rogers is a talentless bum, what does that make Reche Caldwell?

Our talentless bum.

Denver released Darius Watts

Last summer (2005) Peter King was hyping Watts as the next big thing at WR.

This release was a surprise to most people according to reports I read.

BTW - Tucker was terminated by the Browns. Hopefully our pick wsn't a conditional one.

I would bring as many of these guys that are late cuts at WR - especially from teams like Cincy and others that are known to be deep at WR.

What is the story on Coles's injury? If he's healthy, he may be as good as Branch, in a different way. I have to believe he isn't healthy, though. What's the deal with his toe?

If he looks good, trading Branch to Seattle for a one and Engram, then flipping a lower pick (a 2?) for Coles would make me happy. Then ditch Caldwell and call it a day ... 'course the Jets probably wouldn't go for that.

Just say no to Charles Rodgers (drug pun intended).

I think Charles Rogers has a few more cuts to go before he wakes up and smells the coffee. He's not ready for a BB reclamation yet.

Watts doesn't do special teams. That would make it less likely that we'd make a play for him.

Well, they're in enough need that they are offering ours $39M, so they don't feel as comfortable as is, as you think they should.

P.S. - Their number 1 receiver, Darrel Jackson hasn't been able to practice since the week of the Super Bowl, and has had two surgical procedures on his left knee (I think it's the left one) in the last year. Clearly, they are in need of a wide receiver.

No doubt Warrick has fallen off the radar the last two years, however, his first 4 were good. Comparison to Branch's 4 years:

Warrick:213 cat, 2684 yds, 18 TD's, 11.07 yds/rec avg, 140 1st dwn. rec, 32 20+ yd rec, (to be fair he played in 62 games over 4 years)

Branch:213 cat, 2744 yds, 14 TD's, 12.9 yds/rec avg, 141 1st dwn. rec, 34 20+ yd rec, (to be fair he played in 53 games over 4 years)

The YAC would be interesting to compare too. Don't know where to find that stat. Keep in mind I am not saying Warrick is Branch. He's not. And again, he has fallen off dramatically the last two years which says something. However, he showed good numbers for 4 years on bad Cincy teams. It could be that he just sucks now. Or it could be he just was in a bad situation with Seattle. He was injured most of his 5th year with Cincy. Maybe it lingered on to his 6th year with Seattle. If I'm BB, I take a long look at this guy and see if it was a talent drop off or wasn't in the right situation to produce (which I am sure he will or already has).
