Are you kidding? He's been proactive in so many wrong ways:

* Going over the top in punishing BB for "cameragate" and taking away a first-round pick.

* Pushing for 18 regular-season games, a move that no players and few fans really want.

* Pushing the overseas games.

* Over-emphasizing player safety to the point of ****yfying the game.

That's just a few, for starters.
Yep.... and
I didn't know when his contract ran out, but i never thought he'd get another one. IMO he's ruining the game. I can't believe the pettiness of a lot of the fines. No three point stance etc.
Yep.

You're joking right? Dropping 2 exhibition games and adding 2 regular season games has overwhelming fan support. The trick will be getting the players on board, but they have indicated they will sign on for the right price.

This is one of those issues that it is easy to criticize because you never see the injuries that are prevented by the new rules. I wish he had "over emphasized" player safety before the Brady injury instead of after it with regards to that type of hit.

Don't think so. Most of the folks on this board, and most well-informed NFL fans in general (from what I've gathered anecdotally), oppose an 18-game regular-season schedule. I ran a poll thread on this here and a clear majority favored keeping a 16-game schedule and REDUCING the number of preseason games.

Again, most fans who follow the game closely get a bit ruffled when they hear Goodell float ideas like banning the three-point stance. The defensive side of the game has eroded in recent years and our fair commissioner isn't helping matters.

Well, from what I've gathered anecdotally as a STH talking with other STHers is the overwhelming majority favors going to an 18 game schedule over the current format. We're getting a little tired of spending $1,000+ a year on meaningless games.

Well then that was a meaningless poll because there is no way in the world they are going to do that. I would love that solution too but it just isn't in the realm of possibility - NFL owners will not be dropping 2 exhibition games without getting some regular season games in return. So maybe we should try running that poll where the 2 choices are (A)the current format, or (B)2 exhibition, 18 regular.

What can I say? I judge the guy on what he does, not the various trial balloons and rumors floating out there. Of course, the next 18 months will probably contain the defining events of his tenure, but so far I have no serious complaints.*

*I am not going to get into his handling of Spygate since, obviously, this board will have too much bias.

Commissioner Doofus should be fired solely for moving the draft to a ******* Thursday.

Not to mention his mishandling of the Spygate fiasco, supporting the likes of NaPolian in their attempts to make the game more offense friendly, softening the game to a point of absurdity, dictator-like tendency to fine players out their ass for any perceived wrong or even humorous acts, cancelling instead of reforming NFL Europe while pushing for a SB to be held over there, moving the Pro Bowl out of Hawaii, coming across as an empty suit whenever he's interviewed, and being a Jets fan.

I hate Goodell and what he's turning the No Fun League into.

He's a racketeer...plain and simple...should be wearing a jumpsuit with an 8 digit number in a federal facility
