The New England Patriots and 890 ESPN Boston announced today that each Friday this football season will be "Patriots Friday" on 890 ESPN Boston. Patriots Friday will officially kick off on September 8, two days before the Patriots host their division rivals, the Buffalo Bills, in their 2006 regular season opener.

......and that jerk Michael Felger is the host. I don't care what any of you say. I can't stand the man. That's my opinion and I'm stubbornly standing by it. :p

He's a jerk but now he's our jerk.

Does this mean "Patriots Football Monday" is over on WEEI? Darn, now they won't have to interrupt the Red Sox talk with those pesky Pats!

Maybe it's the other bookend of Patriot's coverage...Friday before...Monday after...but still Felger...ugh!!!!

I made the mistake of listening while I was in the car this monday. They were actually apologizing to their listeners for having to interview Richard Seymour and Rodney harrison instead of taking calls about the Red Sox. Truly disturbing.

I think the Pats are making some bad choices when it comes to who they partner their radio stuff with.

Felger was alright a few years ago, but now he plays the controversy game in order to further his TV/radio career. It's repetitive and predictable.

What is really a shame, though, is BCN's pregame show with Tanguay, Borges and Gresh. Borges is someone who we don't even need to mention. It's Gresh who really gets me. Last week, they were interviewing Jonathan Kraft, and Gresh goes into his Steeler love fest after the Rooney's are mentioned. I mean, c'mon, this guy is a diehard Steeler fan and he's hosting the Patriots pregame show? Team him with Borges and the horrible Tanguay and you have an almost unlistenable program. I hope the Kraft's wake up and make a change.

They'll still have Pats Monday on EEI:

The Patriots Football Network (PFN) is the full portfolio of media offerings from the three-time Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots. PFN is comprised of Patriots content produced both in-house and with media partners spanning print (Patriots Football Weekly), television ("Patriots All Access" and "Totally Patriots" on WCVB Ch 5, "Patriots 5th Quarter" on WBZ Ch 4 and "Patriots Video News" on Comcast On Demand), radio ("Patriots Monday" on WEEI 850 AM and "Patriots Friday" on 890 ESPN Boston) and the Internet. PFN's online offerings, available at www.Patriots.com include content from the writers of Patriots Football Weekly as well as streaming video, Patriots.com Radio and exclusive Patriots podcasts.

As much as I think Felger has turned it'll be good to have another source of player interviews. For those interested here is the 890 stream link (figured I've posted EEI's about 20 times so might as well post 890's):

click on "listen live" and yes they are talking Pats today.

As somoone who's never listened to a second of WEEI programming, I find it amusing that they dedicate just one day out of the week for the Patriots. Is the rest of the week all Red Sox days? Do they advertise "Red Sox Tuesday," "Red Sox Wednesday," "Red Sox Thursday," "Red Sox Friday," "Red Sox Saturday," and "Red Sox Sunday"?

EEI depend son the hosts mood, sometimes we get more pATS TALK THEN sox talk. As for the Pats pregame show on BCN, that was pretty bad especially when they were trying to say it was 50/50 if brady was involved with Balco. As for Felger, give me a break guys, he gives us info, actually talks about the pats, and when he is negative he has a point. just because someone doesnt say the PATS RECIEVING CORPS of bam childress and reche caldwell isnt the best in the league, doesnt mean he's the next borges.

They have spent every second since the NY Yankees left town dissecting what went wrong. I shut it off after about 3 minutes. Bostonians have been stroking this team for years and EEI is all about ratings as that’s their business.

If you really want to vomit, rent the movie “fever pitchâ€. It’s portrays the ******ed yahoo mentality of all these idiots that worship the team. Baseball is the main topic of discussion 12 months a year. Most of the players can not stand dealing with the frenzy on a regular basis. Boston is a very small city and they have nowhere to hide from the mental giants that chase them out of town.

On Saturday and Sunday they have their resident Yankee fan hosting a show.

The absolute worst thing that can happen to the Patriots, IMO, is if the Yankees go on to win the world series. Then you will have nothing but talk on WEEI of why can't the Sox make moves like the Yankees? There will be NO patriots talk then. At least thre is a shot of some otherwise.

I'm just grateful that there's an alternative to the All Sox station. Like him or not, at least Felger talks football. I was worried when I heard that Tony Maz might join Felger as co-host. Not only does Maz's voice irritate but I thought the show would morph into more Sox talk.

I thought I had also heard that Colvin would have his own show and that Josh Miller would be back on Tuesday on ESPN Radio Boston. Did I dream that?

Is this true that Masarotti will cohost ESPN? Far as I know, he is baseball only, so why announce that now, at the beginning of football season?

It's truly disgusting and I'm as big a Red Sox fan as anyone but the Pats deserve more radio time than they get. It was embarrassing a few years back when the Pats were making their Superbowl run and all they could talk about was the potential Arod trade and god help me if I want to hear any coverage on my Bruins, the only one on that station who knows anything about hockey is Dale Arnold.

I used to be one of Felger's biggest fans. He used to be objective. He would tell you when something stunk with the Pats, but he would also give credit where credit was due. Now he's just completely negative and I don't even listen to him anymore. He was so over-the-top when Vinatieri signed with the Colts, it just completely turned me off from his show.

I only try to listen to WEEI on Patriots Monday or when they go to Fox Sports Radio late night and on the weekends at night. It's sad when I have to wait for a national show to hear football talk. It's like the whole country wants to talk football but us. I used to like baseball but the whole bandwagon/non-sport fan Red Sox person has hijacked what was a really good sports town.

BTW The biggest embarrasment for me was the Titans regular season game in 03'. The whole stadium has reacting to the Sox in the playoffs, not paying attention to the game on the field.

Is there anything we can do about it?

I suggest threatening the maroon Sox fan siting behind you during the game. But hey, that's just what I did.

Yes, we can all listen to Felger's show and let EEI's ratings go down the toilet. I don't mind Felger, even if he's negative. At least, as several have pointed out, he actually enjoys talking about the Pats and devotes substantial time to it.

It's ALL RED SOX, ALL THE TIME!!!! It's sickening and it's infuriating!!!

I used to be a Red Sox fan. Before Luchino came along. No more!!! Everywhere I turn, it's Red Sox this and Red Sox that. I can't stand it anymore!!!

There used to be a time when the four pro franchises in this town would respect each others time in the spot light. But not this Red Sox ownership group. Nope, they want to make sure that the only team in this town is the Red Sox!!!

They go out of their way to over shadow everything the patriots are doing. If there is any sort of major news from the Patriots, the Red Sox will hold some rediculous press conference announcing anything but the fact that they actually have no news at all. Just so that they can hold a press conference and take the spot light off the Pats news.

Check the dates and you'll see, every time the Patriots have legitamate news, the Red Sox will pull some sh*t!! It started in 2003 and has only let up recently. Probrably because fans are starting to catch on.

I know there are a lot of Red Sox fans on this board and I used to one of you, but not anymore. Not until this ownership group leaves, and they will leave. They have no morals and no ethics. RK doesn't resort to that sh*t, he has too much class!!

Rant over, sorry

Sums up exactly how I feel. Thanks, I'm glad there are others who think like me. I don't hate the Red Sox or baseball, I hate the media-hype machine behind the Red Sox.
