Saints fans not afraid of Patriots

As you are a NE transplant, I will suceede you your vastly superior knowledge about the "goings on" related to Saints football. /sarcasmoff

But allow me to interject:
1. They were not a team "always" brought up in relocation talks- the heat came after 2005 and Katrina- and as a fan base that was reduced to 1/3 of its size, we stepped up. So we hold ourselves in a little higher regard when it comes to terms of "fandom".
2. Fox didnt buy up all the tickets- Hibernia Natl Bank did.
3. Sure we have had our seasons of bad, mediocre and good. But who hasnt?

1. BS, Benson wanted to move the team several times.

2. does it really matter WHO bought them?

3. Again not the point. We know we've had bad seasons but for a fan base that is laregely unheard of prior to 3 years ago to call out our fanbase is plain stupid. There are good and bad Saints fans, same with Pats fans, but I don't see us routinely trying to call ourselves the best fans eer, so dedicated, blah blah, like the Saints do. Hey we were coming off some of the worst years in franchise history when we started our sellout streak, no one seems to ever want to point that out though.

We hung 48 on the #1 ranked defense at the time we played them ( week 6 ) and who I believe still hold the #2 defense spot in total defense.

So if I had to guess, it would be that method.

Total Defense doesn't mean anything.

What does matter is that the Giants are ranked 23rd in Points Allowed.
I guess our avg score of 39.6 per game is close enough to 40, right?:D

It's 36.9. Get your facts straight about your own team.

By same logic , and a little more up to date, two weeks ago
Saints only scored 28 on the 29th ranked D and were only 32 yards
away form losing that game.
So facing a #6 D at this time of the year, Saints may not even get 24 points. Teams have lots of film on you guys and know what you do
by now. From here on out it gets tough! We know.

Ok sure-

or you may find out Monday night that the #6 defensive ranking you hold is really not indicative of what is going on.

Two weeks ago, admittedly we were flat. Out of sync. 3 Turnovers hampered us. Last week we may have corrected that ( since one game doesnt make a trend ) and found our rhythm and protected the ball. Worked out pretty well. If allowed to get into rhythm, your latter prediction will be far from what the reality will be.

The one thing about Coach Payton is his ability to design an offensive gameplan to exploit weaknesses in defenses. He does that very well. What it comes down to is execution. The past 3 weeks our offense was off. They knew that Tampa was the last opportunity to regin thier stride. I think we have it. I guess we will see come Monday night if we truly do.

you guys are actually only averaging 34.8 points per game whereas the patriots are averaging 29 a game.

The past five games the patriots are averaging 37.2 points per game. This can also be closely linked to Brady's improved play more recently further away from his surgery.

While I think it will be a close game, tread carefully...

EDIT: I see it might be 36.9 I may have messed up my calculations a little bit. But the point stays

DAT is an interesting way of looking at it. Also:

48 points scored against Giants
31 points scored by Atlanta
10 points scored by Atlanta against the Pats

15.48 points to be scored by New Orleans on Monday.

DAT be compared to the 34 points put up against the Indy defense. My guess is the NO defense is equally sivvy.

You mean that average that includes bad games against bad defenses? Like

27, 24, 30 and 28?

Buffalo, Caroline, Rams and the Jets...

Sure you put some good numbers against some good teams... But it's been against the weaker teams that you've struggled, and come REALLY close to losing. Yes, you haven't lost, but don't think because in week 6, because you hung points on the Giants, that you're automatically going to hang 48 on NE.

And before you speak, yes NE struggled with Buffalo and NYJ earlier in the season... Since then, their offense has hit stride, and their DEF has gelled more. They lost to DEN, and BARELY lost to IND. That doesn't make the saints game a gimmie by any stretch or wild wet dream. But we haven't struggeld against teams we shouldn't... For example, look @ Tampa, TEN, NYJ part 2, Miami's run game etc... all wins, all convincing.

39.6 should be higher given some of the teams you've played...

1. Dont ecactly know where you get your info from, but stick with NE news. Being down here for Tulane med school is great and all, but you are far from knowing the full historical dealings with the Saints and the State.
2. your info was wrong
3. Unheard of by whom? New England? You play in the AFC, we in the NFC. The same could be said about you. The last time we played you was, I think 2002, I was in Disney, watching that debacle from ESPN Zone. So we dont see, hear or know much about each team and fanbase. What I do know is what I put in each week/weekend ( emotionally, physically and economically speaking ) and my friends and family do. Most of the fans you refer too are newer fans that didnt have to deal with the 80's and mid 90's -2005. So cut them some slack. I have waited patiently for this year to come, and I am going to enjoy it, be it at the expense of "offending" the opposition.:singing:

How are the Saints doing generating bogus spots and phantom pass interference calls?

That's the key to beating the Pats now.

Admittedly, we lost some mojo over a 4 game stretch. Many also believe that injuries played a large role. Not to use it as an excuse, because not to many teams in the NFL can lose players for long stretches like we did and remain undefeated. Lost our starting NT in week 7 ( due to return monday ) his immediate back up to IR the same week. WR lance moore, has played in just 2-3 games this year ( he being our slot "wes welker type"). back to d- starting LB out 2 games for calf injury, Starting LCB out 2 1/2 games, starting RCB out two weeks ago til end of Dec., lost another CB against TB to IR...RB Mike bell missed 4 games from injury... heck we played a Safety at CB by necessity Sunday in Tampa. Each week its been something from somwhere. But our backups did what they are supposed to do. And we won.

Never once did I say we would hang 48 on NE. What I said was in response to another post about the "method" - If the "method" gives the same results as the first time, then it is what it is. Come 11:30 CST we will all be able to see the fruits of our respective teams' labor.

LOL! wll then you win because we cant even get calls at home. seriously.

Atlanta game, third q, bomb to Roddy white, who clearly pushed Greer in the back for seperation, sidejudge blew it.

This past weekend was a PI at the 3 yd line and the sidejudge who threw the flag on Tampa was 2 yds from the players. The refs had thier "conference" and whaddya know...flag picked up - no PI because there was not ENOUGH contact. So what made him throw the flag to begin with?

We certainly have our share of bogus calls ( not so much by way of spots ) that go against us as well.

But its the NFL and these thing happen, you just hope its not on a crucial, game-changing type-play that gets the dreaded " cannot review" label.

It should be a great game. I just hope the Saints don't wear the black "gangsta" uniforms.

That ,akes it really hard to watch.

The Dolphins, Falcons, PANTHERS and RAMS all gave the Saints all they could handle.

I really like our chances in this one, kid ;)

Bring it on....

Ok aren't these same fans who had a brown paper bag over their heads which read " N O Ain'ts"? Man you win a few games and those paper bags become shopping bags over their BIG heads. I read a few of their posts some feel we don't have shot. Well see who they played so far & why we should be so scared......

BE AFRAID, BE VERY VERY AFRAID!

Looking at the data I think I see a subtle key to Saints victories. Unlike the Pats, the Saints start their games at 12:00 an hour earlier! Surely it's easy to run up the score an hour before the other team takes the field. Another blatant bias from Comissioner Roger Goodell.

seriously?!and you mean grocery bags, right? We havent seen bags since 1981.

If by "a few games" you mean 10, then yes I guess are heads are swelled a bit. I know mine is, but thats for a different forum.

What you need to concern yourself with is our offense. Let us worry about Welker and Moss. Monday night will be a wonderful test. I know the team is looking forward to this game.

I still have my bag, just incase. Great thing about the bag is you can swivel it when you cant watch anymore, and it makes life easy if you rob a bank or 2 on the way home.

You could probably get big bucks on Ebay selling those bags to JETS fans

I don't remember being afraid of anyone in week 12 of the 2007 season either - right up to when we played the Eagles and the Ravens.

They need a dose of reality. Brady will deliver it to them.
