Always remember. And I remember that first game back against the Jets. Andruzzi brothers and the feeling of togetherness even more than the usual Pats game. (We'll leave the Bledsoe hit out of it for today )

Thoughts and prayers as always out to those that lost loved ones on that horrible day.

Let's keep this thread non-political. If you have something political to say, post it on the political forum.

Couldn't agree more. It's a profound day, especially here on S.I., and the politics of it, while not appropriate on this page, is particularly unneeded today. We're all Americans, even the spare Canadian around these parts. It's a day to reflect and appreciate the lives of those we lost and of the ones they left behind. Peace and good will, in every direction.

As well as the 2,669 Americans, 329 foreign nationals from 53 countries died. 9/11 was a crime against humanity that took place in America. We all share the sadness and outrage.

Damn straight! These colors don't run. We will never, ever, ever forget that tragedy. God bless all the heroes who perished on that unforgetful day.

Despite the tragady of 9/11 it is also when people used sports to escape and also the fans that had no team found a team. A team that lost something important yet pushed through. a team that wore red white and blue and called themsevles patriots

We will always remember.

Wednesday night, The NatGeo channel had a show on called: Inside 9/11. Rewatching the events tore my gut up and I am not afraid to admit that I cried..

I can remember where I was that day and the fact that I was glued to the TV after the announcement about the 1st plane hitting, so I saw that second plane hit the WTC.

As people have said, it was an attack against humanity because of the people from around the world who were slain.

This is a day that should never be forgotten. Its a day that should remind everyone in the world that extremists don't care whom they hurt, as long as their cause is furthered.

I hope that everyone takes a moment to reflect on what was lost that day because it was more than just several thousand lives.

This is something I wrote eight years ago today on a different message board.

For those of you who are looking for loved ones, in New York City, DC, or elsewhere, try to avoid making phone calls to NYC if you can. E-mail seems to be working well; phone calls to friends and family outside the NYC also are more likely to go through.

I can only offer my prayers for those of you still in doubt, and my deepest condolences to anyone who has suffered a loss.

Finally, while I would not expect any of you to do otherwise, I would urge all of you to do your best to stay calm, and to calm those around you. The goal of terrorism is not merely physical damage, but to instill fear, terror, and emotional damage as well. We cannot undo the havoc that has already been wreaked on our soil, but we can prevent things from spiraling out of control afterwards.

Again, my prayers go out to everyone.

CT, before I read your post, I was trying to put in words what you so eloquently did on that day:

We owe it to the innocent souls who died that day and the families they left behind to resolve NOT to let the terrorists attain their actual goals - - psychological terror. Terrorism's goal is never territorial or material, it is psychological.

This is a very memorable day.. One we should take time to never ever forget..

Would anyone happen to have a picture from the game where the Andruzzi Brothers stood next to one another? Joe was in his Pats Uni and his two brothers were in their fire department gear..

It's a rainy morning in Manhattan and it makes my mental image even starker of the billowing smoke against a beautiful, crystal clear, blue September sky that day.

I'll share a personal story of "life" from that day with the board, obscuring the details a bit to protect someone's privacy.

I have a friend who used to get to her desk at 7:30 every morning on a high floor of the North Tower of the WTC. On the night of September 10th, 2001, her boyfriend (now her husband) asked her to marry him and they stayed out late celebrating. As a result, she was, by her standards, very late for work on September 11, 2001. She was just getting off the Subway at 8:46 instead of sitting in her office, which was vaporized by AA 11, out of Boston.

My wife and I know of many tragic stories from that day; I thought I'd share one that ended with life and new life. My friend and her husband now have a beautiful daughter.
