Broncos fire Shanahan

I don't know what the local experts are saying KontradictioN....

But who the heck does Jack Del Rio still have a job?
At least the Jets put up a fight!

Not sure but I wouldn't want him fired. They were decimated by injuries this year as well. They lost pretty much their entire interior offensive line in the first week of the season and the rest were old. Del Rio is a pretty good coach and teaches smashmouth football which I like. He just can't seem to catch a QB/WR break.

Everybody here is talking about the Jets. If Shanahan takes another job, I think it might be the Cowboys. Despite what Jones is saying, I don't think Wade is going to last that much longer there and Shanahan is a Super Bowl winning head coach.

And the Cows are also now down on their former heir apparent boy genius OC Jason Garrett.

If you crossed Mike Shanahan with Hannah Montana, would you get...

Shanahana Montana? :D

Anything to lighten the premature-postseason mood...

isnt there a connection between he and al davis?

or am i thinking bill walsh?

didn't davis almost hire him?

Davis hired him and then fired him after 1 season and brought in Art Shell.

that is extremely disturbing

NO. Al Davis already fired him (Shanny)! No way he goes back to them. He also got shafted with his money and had to fight Davis to get his contract honored when they let him go. He was making a joke out of it when the last Raiders Head-victim was fired (Lane Kiffen ?). Shanny was saying he had a better record, than Kiffen, but was fired sooner.

Makes you wonder. Shanahan has gone 10 years with no super Bowl ring.

If Belichick goes another 6 years without a ring, is he in trouble?

Just kidding.

If Belichick:

*Drafted an heir-apparent QB with the 11th pick after his starter (who had a 33-14 record at the time) just took his team to the AFC title game and to the playoffs 3 years running;
*Benched his starter in favor of the heir-apparent while his team was 7-4 and still in the playoff hunt;
*Missed the playoffs with the rook after going 2-3 after the switch;
*Traded the old starter and got virtually nothing in return due to his retirement
*Started 5-5, in the thick of the division hunt and went 2-4 down the stretch
*Started 3-0 with a blazing offense, had a 3-game lead at 8-5 w/ 3 to play and BLEW IT
*Missed the playoffs 3 years running while going 24-24

Yeah I'd say it would be time for him to go......

Why doesn't anyone ever mention the fact that the only reason Shanahan won two superbowls was because he cheated the salary cap?

I guarantee that every time our undefeated regular season is brought up, spygate will too!

*****Steps off of the soapbox*****

Congratulations, you find yourself in good company. Al Davis made a similar statement: "Shanahan has an asterisk next to those two Super Bowls, because they were caught cheating." I tend to give Shanahan a bit more credit in beating the Packers and Falcons than that.

And the Pats were monitored during their undefeated season. It is their three Super Bowl wins that people like to take shots at after Spygate.

i was thinking the same thing

I would not mind seeing Shannahan as our OC if McDaniels leaves. Not only is he a great offensive mind to go with BB's defensive mind, but I have to respect a guy, who when criticized by Tagliabue for not putting all his injured players on the injury report, responded by listing all 53 players the following week. Do you have any idea how these two, working together, could annoy Goodell?

Yesterday I told my Bronco buddy that he would be fired. No suprise to me. They had the division all locked up just like the Jets.

I think Pioli becomes a candidate in Denver. Shanahan was not the GM per say in Denver, but he was the GM's boss - Director of football Operations or something like that.

This comes as no surprise in Bronco land as many have been calling for his head. He's been bringing in DC after DC, but is unable to fix the defence. I wouldn't be surprised if Pioli, McDaniels and Crennel all end up there.

The other thing is Bowlen and Shanahan are best friends too, so Shanahan may have seen an opportunity out there too and said 'better sooner than later".

Yep. Turns out Garrett wasn't the genius they paid him to be. I can easily see Shanahan with the Cowboys. I don't think Jones would step out of the spotlight altogether for him but he WOULD take a step back as Shanahan is considered a "no B.S. coach".

Shanny is a HC worthy of the HofF...he has as many SB wins as Parcells. No way does he become an assistant to anyone.

However, with Martz being let go by the 49ers, it makes me wonder how will Josh McD end up being know as:
A great HC with a tremendous offensive mind or an OC who could never cut it as a HC like Martz.

You are right on many points there...but from a distance, it looked like the Jags mailed it in vs. Baltimore.
