The Official 'Trade Brady' Debate Thread - Do Not Start Another One

Cassel has had five great games in his career? How many freakin' games has he played?

I don't even see five "GREAT" games.

2 great games vs NYJ @ Miami

1 good vs Denver

The rest mediocre to bad.

People shouldn't even think about asking this question unless Matt Cassel leads the Pats to the superbowl and wins. Other than that, Brady is their man.

I only posted because I thought the previous post was unbelievably absurd. But if you want to discuss Cassell's performance, here's one. In Cassells first 10 games as a starter he threw two four hundred yard games.

i dont understand how this board is getting so much burn. WE BETTER NOT TRADE BRADY!!! WE WILL NOT TRADE BRADY....HES 32 YEARS OLD, HE HAS AT LEAST 5 MORE SEASONS AS BEING GREAT

If the Patriots trade Brady they better make sure it is to a Nfc team.....

THE CURSE OF TOM BRADY.....will be worse then the curse of the Bambino............:D:

Dale and Holley just signed off on a note that sums up the lunacy. Cassel has had arguably 5 great games in his career.
Five? You have to be kidding? Try two at best and one of them the New England Patriots lost in overtime.

Why trade Tom Brady when the New England Patriots will have five draft picks in the first three rounds in the 2009 NFL Draft?

This is going here for one reason and one reason only. I understand there are some who want to speculate, even though most of these same people were ready to kick Cassel out in favor of O'Connell in week 3 yet now they feel he should be a good replacement for Brady. There are also some who just want to trade Brady for the sake of seeing what the Pats would do with two #1 Picks. I get it. I don't agree with it, but I get it.

However THIS IS THE ONLY THREAD TO DO IT IN. Please keep them in THIS thread. Do not post NEW threads on this, there have been plenty of them as it is. If you post another one, it will get deleted. If you repeatedly attempt to post multiple ones, you will be penalized.

Also, keep the personal attacks to a minimum. By posting in this thread you realize that odds are pretty good that people are going to respond passionately and will likely be irritated. Needless to say keep it good natured, or again, you will be penalized.

Ian brother... all I can say is...

Okay, Super Bowl win with Cassel and...

Will MoLewisRocks have to change his name to BernardPollardRocks?

you just know if they trade brady he would come back and burn them in a big game someday. if there were to happy i would have to say the pats deserve it, and i would root for it.

but this is all nothing because BB said that brady is prob the best player he has ever coached, no way he gets traded

Why trade just brady? why not trade em both.
Trade Brady for 2 #1s; Franchise & Trade Cassel for a #1.

Then we'll have 5 #1s over the next 2 years to turn this defense into the greatest ever.

Meanwhile, we still have O'Connell to lead the offense to a season greater than 07. If BB can turn late round picks like Brady and Cassell into MVPs; imagine what he could do with a 3rd rounder. O'Connell is going to be the Bobby Orr of QB positions; going to completely change the game around with his never before seen skills.

good point!!

ok ok, we are NOT trading Brady

but what could you get for him in a trade?? :p

Re: The Official Trade Brady Thread

I'm only going to say this once. Trading Brady is the worse idea since Greedo shooting first. Nuff Said.

Re: The Official Trade Brady Thread

I find it kind of amazing how people here can forget how terrible everyone thought we were in 2001 until Brady took the helm. It's not like the only problem we had was Drew Bledsoe.

Just to clarify, I loved Drew Bledsoe. I prefer his style over Brady's any day and I see a striking similarity between the way Bledsoe played and the way Cassel plays.

Trading brady to keep cassel would be like fireing house, and hiring becker.

I wouldn't be stunned if they trade Brady after his contract expires after the 2010 season. This year we trade Cassel. We get two more years out of Brady, see how he's doing physically and how O'Connel is doing with his development. Then it might - that's MIGHT - be time to move on. More likely, I expect 5-7 more years from Brady but you have to wonder what $$$ he'll be looking for after 2010.

Who's becker? And are you saying that Brady's coming back walking with a cane and addicted to vicodin?

:) Somebody finally wins the great big prize!!!

Drew wasn't a Belichick pick. He was a legacy pick. While it's obvious that Brady (now) is more accomplished than Drew (then), who hired a guy has a LOT to do with how willing they are to dump him.

Going forward, there is no guarantee with either of them come 2009. No guarantee Tom is "all the way back" to what he has been for the last few years. No guarantee that Cassel continues merrily developing into the Chuck Norris of QBs, even in the hypothetical case that he does so through the SB.

But one thing's for sure... Brady is a BB pick, going up against another BB pick. Neither of them is in Drew's unfortunate shoes.

Why even start this one? There is no debate.

3 Super Bowl rings, 4 super bowl appearances and best record in the NFL since he became QB.
