How confident are you against the Chargers next week?

I think the Chargers have some serious problems. I think there may be something seriously wrong with Tomlinson that they are not letting onto. Also, their defense is non-existent.

That said they are like a wounded animal now which can make them dangerous. They need this win far more than the Pats do. I think that if they won today, it might have been better for the Pats.

The ironic thing is they have the tougher travel schedule this week since they are coming from the east coast.

:agree:

I must agree with Rob0729 100%. The Chargers are not playing anywhere near their level of recent years. As I have stated in a another post, the only thing that worries me about next week is the lay-over on the West Coast.

I do, however, believe that the Pats will beat the Chargers..once again to their S**tball fans dismay. 4-1 isn't looking that bad with a back-up QB now...is it?

:horn: GO PATS!

I'd say my confidence level is 14.6 on a scale from C to triangles.

Yes and no. The Pats will have been out west for a couple more days than SD, but the Bolts' bodies are probably still on west coast time and MUCH more importantly, they'll be sleeping at home and following their normal routines, while the Pats will be staying at a Radisson and lifting manhole covers to stay in shape.

I just worked this out for you on paper..

Translation: 9.7 out of 10 :gossip:

I wouldn't say I'm confident.

The Chargers have issues:
- Tomlinson is clearly hurt.
- Merriman is not coming back.
- The rest of the defense is not going to be the same without him.
- They remain poorly coached.

Despite that, there is still a ton of talent on that team. They are at home. And this is clearly a game they circled on their schedule in the offseason. SD is definitely the favorite.

I like how SD lost as it might put more internal pressure on them. There two games behind Denver right now in the AFC west and maybe, that might wiegh on them as well. There does seem to be something wrong with them.

So, I guess I'm pretty confident. I would love to go wake up next monday morning tied with Buffalo for first in the AFC east! :singing:

Chris Chambers also went down with a leg injury - Could be a knee. He was carted off the field.

If Chambers is out, I really like our chances.

My confidence rests entirely on how productive Tomlinson can be. I can't imagine any way that this guy is not hurt, because he has looked nothing like himself. If we get the LT we've been seeing more of this year, than I'm not worried at all. Rivers is entirely hit or miss.

After Brady went down, I thought this was a game we would lose (no one saw Miami coming obviously), but now I feel more confident about it than I did then. The AFC is just damned mediocre this year, a shocking development.

i think the chargers are too talented to be not favorites this week. their secondary is specially designed for the 3WR package the pats run so cassel is going to have a hard time next week . defensively iam not even sure what we will end up doing ...

well, LT wasnt a factor in the AFCCG and they still moved the ball and picked of brady a couple of times. frankly sproles against our 'speedy' defense scares me more.

I watched that whole game and I must say: The Chargers are just not the Chargers. I was rooting for Miami to lose and couldn't believe that Ol' Ronnie Brown was still shocking a Defense who should have seen him coming a week away.

I'm pretty confident about our play and I believe run stopping has been a big priority for us. Rivers is sketchy this year, which is too bad. As much as I must dislike the Bolts, I love the NFL and have been wondering if Rivers was going to join the stratospheric QB league. The way this year is going, I be doubtin' it.

Heck, the Colts aren't even really in it.

The Pats are a good team and they obviously adjusted. I don't know that I'll be really worried until we head to Miami to see if our D has a plan for gutting them fishies.

We'll win it. I'd even say we might get accused of running up the score... :D

Wow-if you guys were panicking after the Fins loss a couple of weeks ago, the Chargers looked AWFUL against them today.

Belichick will outcoach the snot out of Norval next week-any takes?

The Chargers are hungry but Norv will be outcoached by BB once again. :p

I couldn't figure out if the Chargers were that bad yesterday or if Miami is just that much better of a team than anyone expected? I didn't watch the whole game, but from what I did catch, Miami was pummeling SD.

SD's always been talented but for whatever reasons, they can never seem to finish the job and head to Lombardi Country.

After yesterday's results (both ours and SD's) I am cautiously confident that we can pull out a win here and be in very good shape getting into the heart of the season. The Pats looked like the Pats of a few years ago. Decent offense; no quit; pretty aggressive D (after a sloppy start); and just keep playing until the final whistle. They employed the "stand around and don't let the young QB know what we're doing" D well after a confused start themselves. Go Pats!!

If Cassel helps us win over SD and Indy, AFC championship belong to us :)

I actually wanted to see SD beat Miami so they would come home and be over confident.

What we now have is a very hungry SD team who is desperate for a win to keep close in thier division and on top of that trying thier hardest to beat a team that has sent them home from the playoffs the past two seasons and I expect their very best and all they got - This worries me.

I liked the idea of over-confidence and stealing a W from a division rival. Still, the Chargers getting beat takes the wind out of some of the media's sails.

They also may over-play us. Even if they win, they won't get the satisfaction they want with Brady out. If they lose, it'll hurt times ten for the same reason.

I think if we're prepared on D we can hit the 30+ points level again.
