I don't think Welker or the Patriots would lie about a member of Welker's family dying. And if he was holding out of preseason games to reduce the chance's he gets hurt why doesn't every player in the league playing for a contract do the same thing?
I worry more about Cameron Wake coming off the right side, especially if Vollmer is out. That's a tough situation to put Solder in -- his first action at RT against Wake and a MNF game. It definitely will be interesting to see how the OL plays.
Stop hating on Light, he isn't as bad as you're making him out to be. There were many other issues on the OL last night besides Light, including Solder.
That's not true. Vollmer didn't start right away, Kaczur did. He didn't take over as the starter until midway through the year.
I wouldn't say Solder is more talented than Vollmer either... and I would say unless Light gets injured he will be the starter at LT all year.
My mistake on Light, was sort of guessing.
As of now the game Thursday is still on as scheduled, 2 days between games for the Giants does seem unfair (Jets in same boat). I could see them pushing the game back a few days, but whenever the game is played I'd hope to see Solder get some reps...
Most of the beat writers reported this during training camp.
The Patriots need to get tougher on the interior of their line. More often than not the pressure that gets to Brady comes from the middle, rather than from the outside. Brady is also better at stepping up to escape pressure, rather...
The Patriots will never consider moving Matt Light inside. He has been a LT his entire 13 year career and makes no sense at all to have him change positions at this point in his career. I can see the Patriots experimenting with Nate Solder at RG, since he is in his rookie season. I really hope...
I thought maybe it would be a possibility but that was before the Pats signed OchoCinco. Now I cannot see it at all, those two guys demand the ball be thrown to them, and when you have guys like Branch, Welker and the TE's that just isn't going to happen on a game to game basis. It would be a...
I would suspect the Pats have one more relatively major signing/trade to come because of the cap room that they currently have. They didn't make all those moves Friday, including releasing Warren for nothing.
I haven't and won't read through the entire thread, so I apologize in advance.
I think think by letting go of Warren will only improve the team, by allowing them to add a few more players to their roster. Is Warren really deserving of the third highest cap number on the team? I don't think so...
I don't know I just see a different guy when it comes to Moss now and the Patriots. I don't have any quotes to really back up my stance, but I just think a guy so successful in the league as Moss, considered a top-10 WR to play the game, he wants to add a ring and that will finish off a great...
Brady would be better with Moss on the team. The type of WR the Patriots lacked last season was a guy who could stretch defenses. Although he may not be the 2007 Moss, he can still stretch defenses and attract attention from defenses. This is what the Patriots need to get their WR's open and...
Brady had the best season in NFL history by any QB in 2007 and Moss was his favorite target. This is why this argument that Brady is better without Moss makes no sense.
While Moss definitely isn't what he was, he could still help the Patriots out. He showed early last year that he still has...
Re: Patriots trying to trade up to #8
They are discussing moving up just as a due diligence, so if there is a stud available that they want they don't have to scramble last minute to try and talk a deal, since there is only 10 minutes between picks. I'd be very surprised if the Pats traded into...
I don't think there is a need at all for a QB. What's wrong with Brian Hoyer? I don't think the Patriots need to waste a top draft pick on a QB this year, or in the next year or two when they have a solid young guy in Hoyer already on the roster and getting some experience. Are people really...
