Based on film I agree, he looks like the 3rd best QB on the board. He's a day 1 starter.
My concern (and this applies to both Daniels and Nix as well) is his age. A 24 year old should look like a man among boys in the college game, because he is. He had the unfair advantage of extreme physical...
One year of Ayiuk is worth more to the Niners than the 34th pick. They are a legit contender whose window is now, and unlike KC they don't have a QB who can overcome a significant talent loss.
Higgins is in a similar situation. Neither will be traded.
I'm okay with McCarthy at 3 because taking him there means we actually believe he's the best option. I become much less convinced if we trade down and still land him, because that means we may have taken a gamble and lost and are settling.
I think the real way to blow the draft is a trade out...
All three have the athletic talent to be great, and any of them could turn out to be head cases that flame out. Nobody has any idea..
The most important thing is that whoever we take isn't thrown into a bad situation. That means if we take Daniels, we need to commit to sitting him until we can...
Based on what I'm read, I'm convinced. I can't wait until we land Maye, Daniels, McCarthy, Harrison, Alt and then trade the pic to get another receiver and tackle, all of the third pick. Duck boats!
Seriously though, I think I would be most excited about Daniel's out of the three. He feels like...
So Mayo is open to a trade, unless Daniels slides, or unless he takes Maye, or unless he takes McCarthy.
Remember this time last year when Levis was going to go #2 overall? It's stupid season. Agents are hyping their clients and throwing shade at other players, teams are throwing off scents...
Another thoroughly ok move.
The 1 year deal is interesting. Either the team thinks it's taking a flyer on a likely jag, or the player is betting on himself to produce big on a crappy offense.
Either way, this will be a much less embarrassing 5 win team in 2024.
A trade down seems like a given at this point. I was thinking Nix would be the target, but you bring up an interesting point about setting the stage for a lefty QB.
Maybe the plan is Penix at 11, a WR at 23, and RT at 34.
Receiving back, runs a 4.39 40, played WR in college, good in blitz pickup. Great move. Not a game changer, but if the goal is to build a functional offense for a young QB to grow into, it helps.
The proposed trade is not balanced. It skews in NYGs favor.
The precedent fro moving from 6 to 3 is two 2nds and a 2nd next year. That's what Indy got in the Sam Darnold trade in 2018.
