PS to the above: it's easy, almost a quarter century later, to forget that the "easy" decision for Belichick in 2000 (a decision that would have been supported by many on this Board at the time!) would have been to stick with Bledsoe and create a situation wherein TB12 would, at best, have to...
Come on man! 33 pages? Is this still a topic?
Why don't we just take Brady at his word: He wouldn't done what he did without Belichick.
Then, take Belichick at his word that Brady is the QB GOAT.
Belichick turned the 5--11 2000 NEP into the 11-5 2001 SB Champions. His Game Plan for SB XXXVI is...
Those Baltimore Ravens...that's one high-class franchise!
They got our guys in the 2012/13 Playoffs (and at least had the decency to win it all after beating us), but I'll take 11 Conference Championships and six Lombardi's over their two of each any day of the week...
RIP. Throat cancer is a terrible way to go. Talk to your doctor if you have frequent acid reflux and look into getting an upper GI endoscopy.
Mortensen's "DeflateGate" reporting was sloppy and irresponsible; he (more or less) apologized for it later, but only after the damage was done.
In the...
Can't talk about surpassing Joe until you do what Joe did...that's four rings.
For now, Mahomes did what only Brady and Aikman have ever done...won three of four. That's awesome and the stuff of legends and first round tickets to Canton, but it's not the stuff of GOATs until you pile up the...
Now I know why (virtually) everyone used to hate the NEP, BB and TB12 during that unbelievable run to nine AFC Championships and Six Lombardi's. Once KC sent the game into OT, I "knew" they were going to win. Just like everyone "knew" the Pats were going to beat ATL in OT in LI.
So...
What an organization says about matters of daily influence and how it acts are two different things. What your describe could theoretically describe successful organizations...but, aside from one embarrassing trip to the SB, it does not result in success in this case.
Arthur Blank apparently doesn't have (or want) control of his organization. The management team of a Franchise that has never won a Superbowl was no doubt threatened by Belichick. Blank, who is a very smart and highly successful guy, didn't have either the ability or the interest to challenge...
Count me among those who think that Belichick and Brady made each other better. Brady moved into a "ready to win now" situation. Belichick's situation with Mac was far from ideal and he exacerbated that by making some bad decisions (Patricia among them). But he's still the GOAT of NFL HC's.
I hope this is the right choice, but I have my doubts based on his experience. If Mayo isn't the right guy, it will take two or three seasons to get rid of him. "Five or Six Years" in the wilderness will become at least "Ten" for a team trying to find its way back to the top.
It also worries me...
I don't see this (Jests) happening because Woody and his management(?) team are toxic...probably a big part of the reason, after not wanting to be under The Tuna's thumb, that BB resigned as "HC of the NYJ" in the first place. That said, New Jersey is built to "win now;" that is the only kind of...
Second point. I think (hope?) that the Krafts are savvy enough to avoid three mistakes at this critical juncture.
1) Rushing to pick a familiar face from within the organization...Mayo or Josh might end up being the right choice, but they have to look more broadly. Renewal means renewal.
2)...
First of all, thanks to BB for all that he brought us over nearly a quarter century...it's time to refresh and move on, but TB12 and BBHoodie are inextricably linked in the success of what wise pundits have observed was a dynasty that spanned two eras. Not just the first three, but then three...
