i prefer to wait until after the draft, UDFA's and final preseason cuts to evaluate how the team is doing. Right now, I consider the situation as disappointing but still incomplete.

IMHO, I would only trade down from #3 if the deal was just too good to pass up. We (hopefully) will not be drafting at #3 again for a while, so we need to take full advantage of that spot this year.

Brissett is an upgrade over what we had last year but is still only a bridge. The (hopefully) franchise QB will come at #3 in the draft. All the holes on offense cannot be filled in one year. We need to prioritize our needs this year and continue to backfill in year 2.

while I am disappointed with the progress in free agency, I am inclined to let this off season play out. Let's see how we do in the draft, with trades and with signing late cuts just before the season starts. The hole we are in will require multiple years to climb out of.

if, as expected, we draft a QB at #3, there better be a decent OL to protect him and at least one difference maker WR1 for him to throw to. Other than that, he may be running for his life.

The only reason I can see for holding on to the $50M cap money is to wait until final cuts before the season opens and signing higher quality players. It is still aggravating to see other teams making meaningful moves while we are shopping at the Walmart bargain aisle.

If they are healthy, even Brown and Williams are better than anything we have on the roster now, even though they are no longer WR1 material.

Now just need a vet WR1 and on to the draft.

Basically, Takitaki substituted for Wilson. An upgrade, at least on paper.

Disappointing that we only got a 6th rounder. Hope Mac can find himself with a new start. He never really had a chance in NE playing behind a mediocre OL and passing to JAG receivers. That said, he never really displayed the fire in the gut that TB had.

With the retirements and cuts, the team will be younger going forward. That is a good thing.

if Troy Brown remains as a coach, I assume he will work with PR/KR specialists. I heard a rumor NFL may downplay or eliminate returns as a way to reduce player injuries.

O'Shea is already WR coach and passing game coordinator, so that would be a lateral move which the Browns could block. Also, I think Troy Brown stays. Still need a RB and TE coach. Blount would be an interesting choice but he really doesn't have the experience.

I don't know if this is still the case but, when Stefanski was first hired, the game plan was set by computer experts and handed to the HC for implementation. I am not sure how much autonomy Stefanski had/has. McD supposedly turned down the job because he couldn't call his own plays.

Sounds like BB will land in Atlanta. Rumors of McD, Matt P and Judge being his coordinators also rings true. Wonder if his sons will join him. Also wonder if the Atlanta owner will allow BB to be HC/GM. Based on his most recent GM decisions here, that could be a huge mistake.
