Some bold leaps of logic going on here.
Why would the Patriots make their intentions that obvious? Why wouldn’t they at least want to listen to major offers? If the offers so far have been considered “laughable” wouldn’t that indicate they do like the QB’s?
From Ian. This is my read here:
The offers themselves may be decent in a vacuum. (Minnesota probably has offered this years 1’s) but the staff wants a much bigger haul, one that at least matches what Chicago received last year. (Multiple 1’s, likely a 2, and an impact player)
Minnesota likely...

In a vacuum, I get the idea of trading down and punting at the position from a team development standpoint. If you feel you need significant help across the roster, a QB can only mask up those weaknesses so much.
But ultimately...
Saying you’re open to trades doesn’t mean you’re truly “open” to a trade.

Here’s my issue:
We still can’t come out of this draft without a QB, IMO. If the staff thinks 5th/6th option guys are not far off from the like of Maye and McCarthy, then you can afford to be flexible here.
But if the top 4 guys are seen by yourself as head and shoulders about Nix/Penix...
