Well, it sounds to me like he is too optomistic.
Frankly, I share his optimism but we are a long ways out from week 1, week 10 or week 16.
There can be expected to be a few injuries along the way.
For him to so nonchalantly act as if we won't be set back by loosing Asante is a little too much...
This is the best thread going on now on the site IMO.
With the depth we appear to have on Defense it seems exciting.
We need to expect probably 2 guys get IRed prior to week 1.
Probably andrews saying goodbye.
Probably 1 or so guys traded away for conditional 2009 picks.
But the depth looks...
1) We were very good on Defense last year
2) These guys are fast and Smart leaders and top performers among thier piers
3) They are young and have the potential to be probowlers
4) Crable may become a Tulla Banta Cain situational guy but potentially could be an elephant like Mcginest with...
Even though that could be good-excellent value (eventually) Obviously the FO did'nt see the value in passing up on Mayo a likely contributer and potential future All Pro. For moving back 30 spots we needed more.

A couple years ago we traded away 4 Just Another Guys for low conditional picks the following year.
Possibly we could have a spare QB, DBs and LBs which could net a conditional pick in 2009.
