Patriots Pregame Thread Week 5 pregame discussion: Saints @ Pats

If Jack Jones and Jonathan Jones are back and healthy, the defense could still be okay, especially if White steps up and if Flowers can make it to the lineup. Not kidding myself...losing Judon and Gonzalez is big, but those guys I just mentioned have the potential to be good too...

PostGame Thread POST GAME THREAD: Week 3 - Patriots Beat the Jets 15-10

The score was close, but make no mistake - the Pats completely dominated that game yesterday. Total Yards: NE 358, NY 171 First Downs: NE 17, NY 12 TOP: NE 31:52, NY 28:08 The no call on what should have been DPI on the Jets on that deep pass down the left sideline to Douglas cost NE 3...

Blue Cats from Detroit defeated the Chiefs

Guys, if the Lions were running at will, they'd have scored a lot more than 14 points on offense. Because Goff was good last night. They had two nice runs. A few pretty solid ones, and a lot of "three yards and a cloud of dust" or worse.

Blue Cats from Detroit defeated the Chiefs

They ran 35 times for 118 yds (3.5 y/c). Take away the three kneel downs and it was still 32 times for 121 yards (3.8 y/c). They had a couple of big runs but most (more than 50%) of their runs gained 3 yards or less.

Blue Cats from Detroit defeated the Chiefs

Yeah but defense wasn't the problem for them last night. They only allowed 14 points to the Detroit offense, which was ranked #5 in points and #4 in yards last year, and has gotten even better this year. Missing Kelce was the problem.

Pats picked as one of 8 teams with no shot at a SB this year

I mean, I think best case scenario for New England this year is making the playoffs and maybe winning a game. Pretty low shot of winning the Super Bowl. But that's ok. It's a building process.

    Montana dissing TFB ….. again.

Marino was, if we're completely honest, pretty amazing, especially given the era in which he played. Absolutely electric as a passer. He should be rightly considered among the greatest ever to play the position. But come on Joe. He's no Tom Brady. Good grief.

Predict the Pats' number of wins

9 wins. They'll be better than last year, but the division and schedule are more difficult. So you won't see much of an improvement in the standings. Lots of fun football games coming up this year.

    The 53

Obviously this isn't the 53 man squad they're going to start the actual season with. You can't have just two RBs and only one QB. So they'll get some vet to come in as backup QB - someone competent who can pick up the offense quickly. They'll try to stash Malik on the PS...maybe Zappe as well...

Patriots Player Departure Official 2023 Patriots Roster Cutdown Thread (final roster in opening post)

In the BB era, here's all their 7th round picks: 2000: Casey Tisdale (nothing), Patrick Pass (solid player for a handful of years) 2001: Owen Poachman (nothing), TJ Turner (nothing) 2002: Antwoine Womack (nothing), David Givens (good player who helped win a couple of SBs) 2003: Spencer Nead...

Belichick Clarifies Cap vs. Cash Spending Comments

I've said this for a long time and will forever say it until proven wrong. But the GFIN mode that a lot of teams engage in (like the Rams and Bucs as @Bill Lee mentioned above) is a good and quick way to have a legit Super Bowl run for a short window, but then it ends and it's time for a massive...

Belichick Clarifies Cap vs. Cash Spending Comments

Over his time here, he's spent huge dollars on plenty of players. He pays a ton for Slater (at his position, his price tag is huge). He's paid a lot for his TEs - Gronk, Jonnu Smith, Henry. He's paid a lot for corners - Gilmore and Revis. He paid a lot for Judon initially (whose cap hit in 2022...

O/T: Pete Carroll talks about SB XLIX Butler interception with Richard Sherman

He wasn't great. We all know that. I wasn't arguing that they should have handed it to him. I was just questioning the claim that there was "NO WAY ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH" that he would have scored.
