I have a gut feeling this hire had something to do with BB's ultimate departure. A couple of days ago, there were rumors BB was willing/wanted to stay and even relegate personnel decisions. I think Kraft was trying to promote Mayo too high within the coaching tree, something that probably didn't...

FWIW (not much in my opinion anyway), if BB walks, he takes Steve with him. Again, not a huge loss by any stretch of the imagination.
