Pioli left at the end of 2008.
Reese covered 2009 through 2012.
Since 2013, the Pats have drafted 1 pro bowler.
Coincidence? Or is Caserio really that bad?
It was interesting to read the quote about how much the Pats use stats in their personnel decisions, not just how much but the manner in which they do it. Its something that has increased over time.
One of the interesting points from MoneyBall was how effective the strategy is during a long...
Lots of good free agent WR have come here and flopped, so why not expect it from a rookie? In New England, all the traditional traits of a good WR are irrelevant. The only thing that matters is whether or not you look at a defense and see the exact same thing as Tom Brady. If you do, you get...
This isn't college, with fight songs and such. Its a professional game, and the fans owe the team nothing. Its the players and ownership that owe the fans, cause its the fans money that pays their ridiculously high salaries.
Your question is spot on, hardly novice level.
But, unfortunately, there is not a single poster on this thread that can provide an explanation that makes the Patriots decision-making appear logical. Many feel that BB has royally messed up. The kool-aid drinkers can't explain it either, but...

I thought Pepper Johnson's comments were enlightening, in regards to the defense surpassing the coaches' expectations a little bit at this point in the season. At first, I thought it was a BS statement but then I wondered if he really meant it. If so, the coaches' expectations for the Defense...
It amuses me when people treat football like its rocket science, or brain surgery, or fighting a 2-front war while your economy is in the toilet. Its freaking football.
With the exception of the kool-aid drinkers, the people on this board are smart, can read statistics & analyze trends...
Umm...they're running a vanilla defense, from a standard 1-gap 4-3 formation that most of these guys have played within since high school. We're not talking about the crazy schemes from the days of 03 and 04. You've heard it from their own mouths..."my job is just to kill the QB" and stuff...
I'm looking at the roster and I just don't see where the improvement on Defense is going to come from. When we lost 31-3 after dumping Milloy, you could see the talent on the team - you knew it was just a matter of time.
What exactly do we have now that gives you any hope?
Safety: Barrett...
