Can't believe Belichick threw the Superbowl because Butler was possibly rude to his little Stevie who only had a job due to blatant nepotism and is now struggling as DC of the Huskies
Yeah right. Why don't you watch Episode 9 of The Dynasty again. Watch us get creamed in Super Bowl LII again. Watch Tom throw 500+ yards while our defense gets destroyed. Watch Kraft confirm it was a personal issue that BB had with Butler and nothing to do with his play. Watch Amendola say he's...
This discussion is mostly about BB's record WITHOUT Brady. I would say your post which basically points to Belichick's success WITH Brady is superfluous, and was a digression. So pardon my jibe when you were being sly yourself.
The figures are not hearsay. Here you go. See below. NBC source says Brady wanted 2 years at $50m and never got it. So that's your source. And last deal Pats signed was effectively a 1 year at $23m in 2019 (with 2020 and 2021 voidable). So instead of giving him 2 years at $50m they gave him 1...
Noone's forcing you to read or respond to this thread.
And I believe that discussions such as these, and thousands others in similar forums, online and in-person, will collectively determine BB and Brady's legacy, now that their careers just ended. Hence I believe it's a contribution to that...
Tom never had a bad season. Never. All the way till he stopped playing.
Yes it was stupid not to extend him and lock him up. Yes he asked for a 2 year extension going into his last year (so would be 3 years including the last year) and the team offered 1 year. And yes the numbers about $23m for...
Yeah since he wanted a 2 year extension at $25m per year and the team offered 1 year only at $23m. So he then rejected that extension. That was clearly the team's choice to not give a 2 year extension. It was clearly the team's choice to stupidly determine he was a risk with a 2 year contract...
Noone said BB didn't contribute to those wins. Or other regular wins. In fact Tom's win % without BB is lower, drops from 77% to 65%, so clearly BB was not useless and did have some positive impact. I included that in the original post and said as much.
Great. So we agree.
All I am pointing out that Belichick (the GM and HC) made a glaring and spectacularly stupid mistake, same as you just agreed with. And BTW this spectacular folly was quite obvious to a lot of us and there are reams and reams of threads here talking about this when Tom was...
Au contraire, It's the "free" in free agent that's confusing you.
Tom should never have been allowed to be a free agent. Negotiations between the teams in the last 2 years broke down. He wanted a two year extension and Belichick refused to give it, arguing that Tom's age doesn't warrant it...
Lowballing Tom, or not giving him 2 years like he wanted, was akin to pushing him out. Tom didn't choose to leave. Sorry but please no revisionist history here.
