Wow...
Can you imagine this:
Brady in a 2-wide set with Moss and Stallworth on the fly taking 3-4 DBs with them; Watson on a long post down the middle dragging a LB out...and Maroney catching a pass in the flat then turning it upfield, juking guys along the way.
Well put. Player put a lot of hardwork to build on god-given talent...but if every player felt this way after 1 great year preceded by a few decent years - then there wouldn't be a league. Asante is a great corner, but he needs one or 2 years added to his body of work to command Clements money...
1. Brady - for being a winner
2. Bledose - for rewriting our record books and never letting us feel like were out of a game. He saved our franchise.
3. Grogan - for toughness and being a solid quarterback for many years; the only way Grogan gets above Bledsoe is for sentimentality - not...
Exactly right. Anyone can open up the check books, but the Patriots have shown that ability to spend intelligently and effectively. The same cannot be said of the Yankees. They have spent close to $1.5-2 BILLION since 2000 and have no championship to show for it.
Also, as stated astutely above...
Agreed. I am schizophrenic about wanting to face Denver:
1. The revenge factor is great and the ol' "nobody beats us twice on our turf" is true for everyone...except against the Broncos.
2. There is not one shred of evidence that Brady has ANY ABILITY to play well in a big game against...
Absolutely agreed. Even though he drives me nuts some times, I think he should be given a long leash - guys with such FREAKISH ability (that is the only word that fits him) come by rarely...
When I think of the 'great' tightends taken in the draft at high positions with franchise changing...
I think Andre Tippett needs to be on that list...then maybe Willy would be next Patriot considered, though he would never get it.
I wonder if a guy like Vrabel will ever crack that list? Scores a bunch...but I don't think he has ever been to a ProBowl.
I also heard his locker room leadership went from being remembered as legendary to just good 'ol veteran motivator. I certainly don't see a drop off in our defense with him gone.
Also, the whole shoving thing with Don Davis or Larry Izzo (can't recall) in the Denver playoff game certainly did...
Ben Watson was even more useless as a rookie - he could not even run practice routes and look at him now!
A groin is tough to recover from and I think we have yet to see how great Jackson will become.
No way. Our receivers were tremendous today. Even Gabriel's fumble was not in a bad spot - it was deep in Jets territory after he made a great play. On the whole the QB threw shallow passes and the receivers made nice plays...they even made some catches that were clearly off the mark.
Even...
I don't think the season is lost. I think the team has improved tremendously in the areas that were identified as weaknesses:
WR: excellent. I am very happy with Gabriel, Reche, Jackson, and now Gaffney. Troy Brown is a plus.
LB: I think they are stable...Bruschi needs to come out of the...
