GB just confirmed original round tender on Allison, so no compensation. I suspect someone is going to go get him as GB doesn’t have much cap room left. I hope it is us.
I would like to see Golden Tate and his YAC in our offense, but unless Malcolm Brown can generate a large enough contract elsewhere to cancel him out in the comp pick formula, I question whether BB will bring him in if it costs him one of the current 3rds.
Who won’t cost anything in comp pick...
At what point do you take a flier on Hurst? Or is he in your no-fly zone? Package a 5+6 if he is still within reach?
He probably comes off the board early in the 4th as it only takes 1 team to take the risk. But if he makes it to late 4th, I’d spin that roulette wheel.
Assuming Tom plays and they stay put and use a 1st or 2nd on a QB, I wonder if they would consider a double dip with Kanoff (or pick your late round flier of choice) as a late pick. With a deep class and most teams in need of a QB likely to take one to develop at some point, it may be easier to...
If he makes it through camp heathy, then Allen may be cut. If they still view Allen as the better player at that time, though, Niklas’ health could leverage Allen to lower his contract to the point where the Pats feel he is a value. Else take a vet minimum somewhere else.
He made Jimmy the lone backup his rookie yr IIRC. More risky at Brady’s age for sure, but there are some thin positional groups that could use that roster spot. Will be interesting to see it play out.
Agreed. Overthecap currently has us at 3,3,6,7 with Jeremy Hill’s 1.5m still counting against us. So... if RJF’s deal is enough to qualify for the formula OR there are enough deals still to be signed to push Hill out of the formula (but leaving Fleming in), then we have 5 net losses and a...
Assuming we draft a developmental QB, the question becomes do we keep Hoyer as well or roll with Brady and the rookie and become far more dependent on Brady’s health. Obviously the rookie’s performance in OTA’s and camp will have a lot to do with the final decision. If he is overwhelmed, we...
They had him through OTA’s and a portion of camp before he left in early August if memory serves. If he made a good impression then, and now it is just a matter of getting weight up, the key issue to me is what portion of the weight gain needs to be muscle versus donuts and pizza.
Regardless...
I agree... that’s why I pointed out that a portion, not all, of the interest in some of the pickups to come will have the formula in mind. I’m not claiming any absolutes here that you may have perceived.
I was merely trying to point out that if there are players with APY’s just above and...
Agree. It wouldn’t surprise me if a portion of the interest in Tobin and Hill (and perhaps other camp lottery tickets to come) is based on the contract value not impacting the cancellation chart. Fill in the 90 with those types and hope to hit on a couple that might stick.
Getting 4 picks is...
I wonder what Delvin Breaux will go for. Assuming medicals are ok, might have a chance at value there. B.B. loves his injury values, and a young corner with good size that B.B. practiced against in 2016 might be a target for incentive laden deal... assuming he liked what he saw in those practices.
I have some hope that we have an in house LT for 2019... be it Garcia or Croston. Going back to the 2017 draft, B.B. double dipped at T with Garcia and McDermott preparing for this offseason as he usually is roster building a year out. They go thru camp, realize they are getting nothing from...
Fair point on Garcia, but I think there was more to that Cannon extension than just paying a backup starter money. I think they saw the writing on the wall with Vollmer and paid what they did as short term insurance plus long term development as the starter to be.
I don't see Fleming's...
