Talk of a playoff rematch is pointless unless the Steelers drop to a 4-seed. Even still, the Steelers are crap on the road this year. They've built a respectable record beating nobodies at Heinz Slop. Outside Pittsburgh they might as well be the Dolphins. Their season will end in New England or Indy.

I think that was a pretty well rounded view. At least he didnt say the reason they lost was because Troy was out. Since we burned troy with the same play in 2004. Troy may not have been burned twice though.

This Pitt fan is a little delusional. He says that the Pats won because of one gadget play and the Steelers D biting on a play-action...both leading to TD's.

Take away those two plays and the Pats still win by a TD. I guess they don't like to teach math down in Pittsburgh.

Not a bad article. But kind of wishful thinking. It supposes the Pats will improve less than the Steelers by their next meeting. It ignores history. The Pats are the best coached team in the league and almost always improve more than their competition in the second meeting of the season.

Total denial, what is the Patriots record against the Steelers since 2001?
I am guessing 5-1, with 2 of those wins coming in Pittsburgh in the AFCG.

The Patriots own the Steelers, each team matches up better against some than others and for the Patriots they match up well against the Steelers. This year the Steelers are never going to be able to score with the Patriots, maybe the get 27 points but the Patriots will get 35. Maybe Polamalu makes a difference but he gets sucked in on fakes as much as anyone else.

Every team the Pats beat goes away thinking "we could have beat that team", look at the record book. Examine the Patriots record in close games, home games, December games, turf games, road games, cold games, hot games... it is always the same, the Patriots win.

Pittsburgh is now assured of having to play wild card weekend, likely against the Browns. They will win that game and then lose to Indy.

I agree the writer is in denial. His team got soundly beaten yesterday and it could easily have been worse - remember the ball Moss let slip through his fingers at the back of the end zone?

While Troy Palamalu is certainly better than he was in 2004 and may well have learned from the 60 yard TD to Branch, Anthony Smith didn't clearly learn anything from yesterday's loss, judging by his post-game comments.

Regardless, as I posted on Saturday night (I am really confident about a victory tomorrow), Pittsburgh is still very much overrated. A good team, but not a great team. Nothing I saw yesterday changed my mind about that.

Even if what this guy says is 100% spot on, he should have at least mentioned Indy. He just assumes they'll cruise right past the Colts? Wrong...

I'll gladly take Pitt again instead of Indy, but I seriously doubt that is going to happen.

It reminds me of the Pitt excuse makers back during 01 and 02 when they felt we really didn't beat them because we scored oour touchdowns on special teams??? WTF???

Some okay points at first, but it does veer toward denial quite a lot.

First of all, the conventional "wisdom" that the Patriots secondary is "old" has just GOT to stop. It may not be "good" but it's not even close to old." It is, in truth, "young." The only old player in our secondary is Rodney, and he's arguably been our BEST player there for the last several games. (The other point he makes, about our LB corps being old, is obviously legitimate and fair.)

The other thing the fan-boy/writer likes to skim past comes in his not-at-all-apt comparison of THIS year's potential rematch to the rematch from 2004. A major reason behind the disparity between those two games is that, in the first game the Patriots were missing: Ty Law, Matt Light, Daniel Graham, Corey Dillon, Deion Branch and I believe a couple of other starters, maybe even Koppen? In the rematch we had ALL except Ty Law back in the starting lineup. But hey, don 't let that get in the way of a good (by which I mean "totally disingenuous") story.

Whatever. We won. If we face them again - and I hope we do because that will mean they went into Indy and pulled off an upset - we'll kill them again. Probably by more.

Rookies bite on that type of play 99% of the time. Once they get a few years in the league under thier belt it's harder to get a safety to pull off his resposibility. So, you have to give credit to whoever called it. He was pretty smart. Also have to give credit to the halftime adjustment made by the Pats. They were a different team in the second half...

Honestly I don't see a lot of facts, cold, hard or otherwise. I just see denial, I am not a rah rah homer but I do know the Patriots have owned the Steelers.

The writer is delusional. According to him, the stunned Steeler's weren't blown out, they were on a "fact finding" mission. Rationalizatons don't get any more ridiculous than that.

What I saw was the "#1 Defense in the League" lay down on her back like a $3 whore.

5 straight completions to Welker ? ...... even when they KNEW what was going to happen, they couldn't stop it.

Polamalu strength is NOT in coverage ...... I don't see him being there making it any better for the Steelers ..... indeed, as many times as Polamalu's been burned by the Pats over the years, the result could certainly been worse for them - considering that we didn't even TRY to run the ball.

Tomlin can study tape every hour between now and January ..... and its not going to help him.
