I'll use this thread to discuss and breakdown the upcoming offensive tackle position.
I thought last year's class was very good but next year could be a little better. Like every other position the tackle spot is becoming more athletic every other year. Again just look at last year's class. This year these guys are dripping with athletic upside and size. Sewell might be the best player in the country. Lawrence is obviously there, he deserves the spot as well and positional value will ultimately win out unless a team like KC, Sea, Ari, Balt etc gets the #1 overall pick.
Sewell is just another level as a mover. He's a big TE out there. Quick, efficient steps. Gets to his marks like lightening. He looks special.

Lots of big movers, projects in this year's class as well. Guys like Lucas who is just coming into his body & game. Carman, Cosmi, Ealy & Radunz are two other I really like.

And the then you have guys looking to bounce back and really put a stamp on their college careers like Little & Bruss. Bruss is someone I kinda like for us.

Then there's Daniel Faalele ... 6'9 - 400lbs, Daniel Faalele.

Not a bad class at all. Should be fun. I'll add to the list as we go along. Shout out names if I don't have someone up there.

Curious to see how you grade Penei Sewell on your draft grades sheet at the end of the season. Going back, Tyron Smith was your highest rated tackle at 9.17. Sewell is so good that some are even calling him the best tackle prospect since Orlando Pace.

Appreciate the interest and yea me too:excited:! I've been thinking about him and Lawrence for a minute now. Both are just freaks. Prototypes. So young, almost no flaws. I could see both walking away with 9+ if they stay on the right track.

Will also be interesting to see what develops with the Pats OL philosophy in light of both the coaching change and, more obviously, what works or doesn’t with the QB position.

Seems like they are counting on Wynn and Cannon staying healthy, Andrews back at 100%, Cajuste stepping up. I’m not that optimistic about any of that and would have preferred to see them address OT earlier in the draft. However, regarding the OL in general, particularly given the coaching change, we’ve got to really factor in the restrictions they are under with the Coronavirus.

Leatherwood, Sewell, and Little are my top 3

Yeah i like Leatherwood as well. Can play either Guard or Tackle and seems like a good fit for a zone blocking scheme.

The guy I am watching this year (hopefully) is van lanen from Wisconsin.

the dude has a bit of T. rex syndrome so I would move him to guard. He is nfl strong now and can blow people off the line of scrimmage. Total beast in the running game.

if bb can not extend thuney and thuney leaves next offseason, I have no problem drafting van lanen and plugging him in at left guard. We will lose some with that change, but not that much.

if Mason has another down year or continues breaking down physically, then I have no problem with replacing him with van lanen.

Darrisaw is a great run blocker. Very athletic. Likes to mix it up. Lots of potential overall.

Can see him reaching. Taking on all blocks. Burying people if he can.

Would only be 20 at draft time. Remember Bill likes to draft teammates and picks from certain schools at times (Rutgers, Georgia, Michigan ..)

Kills a man here but check out the TE block. Textbook. Quick off line, occupied two blocks for second. Hooks his man and seals off a lane. I love it.

The right tackle for Minnesota is huge!!!!

he is a pure road grader, but not much in pass protection!

after we flush our opt out guy in the offseason, we could draft his replacement with this guy from Minnesota.

Mayfield had a very good game tonight.

Should I make a PTP thread to keep track or wait? I have about 30 prospects so far. Might as well so we can keep track, add to it?

Thoughts?

He's a project but on my short PTP list believe it or not.

This would be very helpful

Should be a good class for OTs (And CBs)

Alec Lindstrom is someone to watch if we want to target a Center. Showed good patience/awareness. Has almost the Same Size as Andrews. Maybe some pounds more would be nice but he is tough

Watched some film from last year on the ot from northern Iowa, spencer brown. He is a really big dude, not sure where his athletic ceiling is, but he could be the 2021 version of onwenu.

Just wondering, from a personal standpoint because I coached him in HS, but have you checked out Ole Miss RT Royce Newman. Hopefully he gets to hear his name called at some point on day 3. Thinking he will be in a camp one way or another. Played TE for us and is a pretty good athlete for a 6’5 315 pounder. Played G last year and kicked out to RT this year. Just read he got invited to the Sr Bowl as well so will get to go against more top level competition in January. AJust wondering if you had any thoughts.

Haven't dived into him yet but I'm familiar. Just off what I know and seen would say a better run blocker, you can see some athleticism. He'll test well I'd bet. A bit up & down overall but good mover in terms of bending and getting off the line. Looks to have good length. Played both G spots but one a lot more LG. Might have some versatility along the line but sometimes moving around can be detrimental. He has some potential though.
