I'll kick this off, and then wait for the real heavy hitters to add some analysis.

I found this video that someone compiled, and thought it was worth sharing while we wait for all-22 looks. Great to see Dorsett on the same page as Brady. Last year he ran some sharp routes and blocked enthusiastically, but they didn't seem to have a lot of chemistry yet. Let's hope that changes going forward.

I disagree with Kyed on this one. That ball was a complete duck because Lawerence Guy got to Watson and rushed his throw and impeded his follow through. It hung in the air way too long to expect it not to be intercepted.

I think you can both be right -- unless I'm misunderstanding one of your statements, I don't find them to be contradictory. Improved communication allowed Gilmore to peel off his man and trust that Harmon would take care of it, and then because the ball was in the air so long, he was able to get there for the pick. I can't confirm either way without seeing the all-22, because the timing of when Gilmore went deep is important: did he do it preemptively, or was it reactionary to the Watson throw?

Honestly only watched it once so far bc of college bs & tryna keep a level head bc it seemed like Houston just wasn't ready tbh.
That said yesterday I wrote Flowers, Guy & Wise were the stars of the show & everything I've read today backs that up w stats/other eye test etc

Really hoping Wise continues to progress. Lower half strength is what really separates him & Flowers but he looked fresh yesterday. Quick & strong. Both guys are "power" plays in terms of what moves their gone throw at you but both ran the arc smoothly yesterday.

I thought Bentley made quite a few plays that won't show up in the stat sheet. Whether it was covering the flat, can't remember if the other play was a wheel or corner but was all over both.

Also mentioned how effective Gronk was even when he wasn't getting the ball & he really carried the offense in terms of keeping others free & space to work w. I'd be shocked if Jax didn't blanket him (the right way, Hou was pathetic at times, esp on the TD)

Brown looked pretty good. We ran behind him w success on a few plays where he opened up a lane. Really good job on JC. This is making the rounds but I noticed it right away when it happened.

Such a quick, accurate strike. I don't JC knew what happened. I love how Dev didn't hesitate to get in on it as well.


Been patiently waiting for the A22 to come out. Those fuc ckers gotta get on their job..

Excluding the opponent & how they looked I was very happy w how prepared we looked overall. Again, I wrote that Houstons secondary looked like ours last year w all the confusion & miscommunication. We looked very comfortable & smooth in any hand-offs, pick ups & show good r/rec.

Really looking forward to taking a closer look at Davis bc he didn't standout at all to me. Definitely not rushing the passer & was moved too much from what I saw. Again the tape will tell the tale but I wasn't impressed.

Just watched the first half & specifically looked at Brown & Davis.

Brown was pretty good. Cut the hell outta JC, showed vg hand placement on a few rushes controlling w one inside & the other underneath his pads, kept him guessing. Great cut block on Gronks TD.

I was wrong on Davis & he actually had 3 good rushes but again wasn't anything special in the run game. Blocked by a TE a few times. Redirected aside too easy on a few plays. Overall not bad.

It was evident we could do anything we wanted when we lined up 2 legit pash rushers on both edges. Davis, Flowers, Wise, didn't matter. Houston couldn't handle it.

Bill wasn't letting Watson's legs beat us & it showed w some fronts. 1 rushers pushing the edge. 2 DT'S creating a wall up front & a LB chaser.

Dorsett TD was pretty on so many parts. Brady recognizing man but more importantly where the doubles where. Looks over at 87/28 & instantly looks/finds Dorsett. Was going to him 100% after his reads on the right. 17 was used as a blocker/clearing out space while Hogan took his man to the sticks.

Dorsett knew he had him beat inside. Recognizes & runs to space.

Will have some cuts ups tomorrow when those fu ckers get their sh it together.

JJ Watt was clearly offside on the play where he sacked Brady. You can see the ball on the ground and Watt is well over the line. The next screen, Watt's body covers the ball - which is still on the ground. Watt got a good full step over the LOS. Waddle didn't have a chance.

A couple of those Dorsett catches came vs. Joseph in man with good separation. That’s encouraging.

Took a photo of the D on 3rd/4th down while Romo was talking about it during the broadcast. Maybe someone with more advanced knowledge can explain it better but that alignment definitely seems new/more aggressive to me. That’s cover 1 with the FS just 10 yards off the LOS.

Have we run similar looks in that situation in the past? Could be an example of Flores’ stamp on the D.

Another example into how much work goes into gameplanning, route design and the complexity of football. If everyone is on the same page and your QB reads coverages correctly it can look so simple because of all the work everyone put into that play.

Just wanna emphasize how Rowe was in perfect coverage and position to make the INT even without Gilmore coming over. He played a good game overall. I hope he stays healthy and we finally get to see him at 100%.
