Kyle Lauletta

I was just about to come post a thread about him! You might want to fix the thread title though - his surname is Lauletta. He's a redshirt senior at Richmond (FCS).

There's a really good breakdown of him (with video clips!) on a Steelers blog:
https://www.behindthesteelcurtain.c...e-lauletta-ben-roethlisberger-replacement-nfl

Initial thoughts:
  • He plays QB at a high level - he looks off safeties, he throws with anticipation and he throws well when under pressure
  • His throwing motion is compact and there's little wasted movement.
  • His footwork is excellent, and he moves around in the pocket impressively.
  • He's been consistently accurate at the FCS level, despite his receivers not being anything special.
  • Occasionally he doesn't push his hips through perfectly when passing, and the arm seems to be doing more of the work. His accuracy is fine, but NFL-level coaching will make it even better (and help him avoid long-term shoulder/elbow injuries)
  • Despite not having an elite arm, he can make all the throws - including deep outs from the opposite hash.

No doubt the Patriots scouts already know about him, and it'll be interesting to see how he performs at the Senior Bowl. I wouldn't be surprised if we work him out extensively.

His stats are here:

I came here to post about him. From his demeanor, story & clips on twitter he may be the QB to target. I was impressed from his game on youtube too.

Interested to see him Saturday. If he looks the part he’ll be the RD 2-4 guy in mocks.

edit: Watched three games of him. He goes through his progressions as good as any QB in this class & has pretty good accuracy. He sailed some passes & I’m not sure on his arm strength/throwing motion but he’s on my radar.

under the radar prospect who loves lacrosse and whose father played QB at Navy . I think we can all just put him as a lock to be drafted by BB.

I liked him a lot since last year's “scouting“ D. Jones.
Glad he actually made it to Sr.bowl and into conversation..

Kyle Lauletta don't impress me that much but if he can develop in year or two after sitting he could be something. I wouldn't take him before the Fourth or Fifth Rounds.

don't like his size, but I hope the Pats take him with the possibility that he develops as a backup. He's a pats kind of guy.

He's looked good in the Senior Bowl. Not a lot of throws, but he's made them count:

Sold. He’s the guy.

I LIKE! Draft this guy. It just makes too much sense. I've watched some of his interviews and he's mature, sounds like a leader and takes the game seriously. He's a prototypical Patriot.

And he's worked under center HUGE PLUS.

Update to his stats:

Kyle Lauletta 8/12 198 16.5 3 0

Kid with a lacrosse background and family who played at Navy. He's almost a meme at this point! Bring him in, BB.

I thought he might look out of place. Nope. He looks like he belongs out there.

6"2. 5 that's good height for a QB. I hope this kid lands in New England. He needs to add some pounds.

The most patriot qb I saw this year was Finley, but I do not think he declared.

So if we use our 4th round comp pick on this kid, I am ok with that.
