OT: Twitter/Forum speed problem

I don't know if anyone else has the same problem, but Twitter's really impacting the load times for my pages here. It seems to hang up particularly long on platform.twitter.com


Any suggestions for a workaround, other than blocking Twitter?

Twitter images have loaded somewhat slowly for me for a while. Being on game day exacerbates the situation.

If we could somehow get everyone on board with the idea of copying and pasting the comment rather than posting a twitter link - especially during a Pats game - everything would run faster.

I'm guessing that you're using something like Noscript, and you've got one of the 3 needed Twitter links blocked (Yes, we actually need 3 for the way it's set up). You need

Twimg.com
s9e.github.io


I only have them active because people toss twitter into the game thread so often, but it's too much of a drag on load times, and it looks like I'm just going to have to ditch Twitter.

That's a good question. Obviously Twitter isn't hosted here, so it's more the load on their end than ours. Are you on Chrome? Chrome seems to have zero issue with it. Microsoft Edge seems to handle it fine as well. Although I haven't tried Firefox or Safari...

I'm using chrome and it was ok although I did notice a slight lag but nothing inhibiting.

I see one thing I can do to speed things up. I'll add that to my to-do list for this week and I'll update this thread then. I'll move this over to the Help Desk so it doesn't get lost.

Long as we are talking slowdowns, Ian ; on my iPad-safari lately the site loads much slower and choppier than it used to.

It causes the screen to jump around right at the point when I was hitting the touch screen and i end up somewhere (pub ad or just wrong thread) other than where I intended. I suspect part of problem may be overly large memory size photos in the header, but what do I know (ex that photo of HT being helped off field for last week).

Any way, if anything you can do there= thanks.

Twitter has always (for years) loaded slow for me and the links seem random whether they load in the thread or default to a pop up tab (are we users setting that parameter based on how we script/link?). Sometimes I read ten posts further in thread before the twitter post becomes visible. I Always assumed it was twit issue and not yours, but if you can make better all good.
