Reason?
Davis > Horford, Tatum, Brown.
He can improve on all of that. Most rookies in the NBA take time to develop. Brown has the physical tools and potential. Let us see where he is at in 2-3 seasons. He can't dribble, can't pass, can't shoot…What exactly can he do on offense that's helpful?
The only way he can contribute is on defense, if he puts in the effort…but he'll need to ditch the feeling of entitlement that being the undeserved #3 overall pick has given him.
Danny should've drafted Jamal Murray, but that's just one mistake of many in a near decade-long run of more misses than hits on draft night.
The question is....i mean, i think davis is damn good, but...that's quite a bit excessive, particularly since we don't know what tatum/brown even are right now...
I would say horford is about 70% of Davis today...
That's one thing that people who highly value the BKN pick don't seem to be factoring in. Young players take some time to develop especially with the current one-and-done approach to college. There's so many "ifs" with the BKN pick. If they are in the lottery. If they draw the top level pick. If they pick a good player. If that player makes an impact relatively soon. If that player can perform not just during the regular season but also deep into the finals. Kyrie has his issues, but a lot of those "ifs" are solved when you go for someone like him. Most rookies in the NBA take time to develop.
p.p.s.: Danny blinked, as predicted.

You have already deemed that he is incapable of being a major contributor on a contending team after his rookie season, which was decent. You lessen your credibility as much (if not more) as the people who are already predicting stardom for Brown.
Brown can ball. Potential trade partners have been trying to pry him (and Tatum) away and the Celtics have refused to package him. That tells me there is confidence surrounding the kids future.
I really can't believe people are hung up on this 2020 second round pick
Literally couldn't be more useless
Brown is super intriguing, partly because his floor and his ceiling are still so far apart, even by raw prospect standards. As last year went on, I developed confidence in him to hit open corner 3s. That's huge. I also love his defensive effort, and I think he's well on his way to becoming an elite wing defender. Last year he made too many mental expects, but that's kinda to be expected from a 19 year old.
The biggest thing I see holding him back is I've never got the sense that having the ball in his hands comes naturally to him. I don't love his vision or his handle as a primary ballhandler/distributor, and while he's young enough that that could develop the odds are significantly against that happening. Which is still fine, assuming he makes even reasonable improvements in those areas, I could easily see him becoming a much better version of Jae Crowder. Which may sound a little underwhelming if you're hoping he'll be a superstar, but I don't think that would be a bad outcome. You can win titles with a guy like that as your fourth best player, and he could develop into more.
While on principle I would have rather told Gilbert to shove it up his ass, a second round pick 3 years from now (that you got from someone else) really isn't backing down. I liken it to when the Pats added a 7th rounder to complete the Welker deal and eliminated any chance Miami would match the offer. I wonder whatever became of the guy who they got with that pick.I wouldn't say it's useless; all picks have some value. I agree that it's a small enough concession that it doesn't move the needle for me, though. Worth it just to get the Cavs to **** off and go waste someone else's time while they slide back into another 50 years of irrelevance.

Well at least Wright seems like a good guy, but like most 7th round picks turned out to be one and done.
Notice how most of them are people that continually second guess Belichick. Just seems to be their m.o. with all the sports teams they are fans of.

for the record...im not as fearful of GS as all yall are in here, please remind me how did we do against them last year? (and this year we're undeniably better)
CLE is much worse b/c they have (had) matchups that exposed us more, w/ GS its different, we matchup WELL with THEM
if we go into the finals next year with a core of Kyrie, Hayward, Horford, Brown, Tatum and decent pieces around them (which is what we have today) i think they have a damn good shot at the title

we all got our own little bit of crazy going on, whose really to say which is less and which is more?
