Being new to this forum and still learning the ins and outs I have to ask a question even though I am a professional programmer.

Is there a way to click on a thread and be brought to the first post that you have not yet read? While this forum has many, many more and better features than the other one that I post on

(Sports discussions - Boston.com),

that one does have that nice feature. It remembers exactly what the last post was when you last clicked on it (if you traversed to that page).

So, can it be done here? So far I have had to scroll through many posts (I had already read them) and even a few pages, even when my first click was to the first page showing in the list of threads. For example, I had left off on page 4 of the "Eat this Tom Brady" thread. When I came back later, the list show pages 3, 4, and 5 as selectable. I picked 3 but then after traversing the posts I realized I had to go to the next page and scroll again.

Hopefully what I am asking can be done. Otherwise it falls into a "it would be nice" category.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong. But I think if you've read the thread, and then you go back to it, you click the title, not a specific page. Then you'll be taken to the last spot at which you were reading.

This works for me. You could also click on "Go to First Unread" button on the left. (That was the surprise ending!)

Consider yourself corrected. I just now, after your post, went to the Tom Brady, EAT THIS post which has five pages (I had been on the last one, clicked the title, and I was sent to the first page, first post.

The little green dot to the left of the thread title is your answer, sir.

Weird. Well then Zeus's suggestion: click the 'first unread' button.

There's a dot just to the left of the thread title. When you click on it, it takes you to the first post you haven't read.

  1. There are little green dots in front of most of the threads. That one has none. Does that mean there is nothing new since I last read the posts?
  2. I found the "Go to first unread post", but on that thread it was greyed out. Does that mean there is nothing new since I last read the posts?
If my guess are correct, then thank you both.

Yes

Ok, here are the results from my testing your suggestions (and I am on my Windows 7 computer).
  1. Clicking on the title DOES take you to the next post.
  2. When there is a greed dot, it also takes you there
  3. I couldn't find "Go to first unread post". Rather, I found "Go to first message" and it took me to the first page.
  4. When there is absolutely nothing new in a thread I have read, the thread title is greyed.
In short, the site does behave just the way I wished.

Thank you all for your help.

That's always worked for me on my Samsung Galaxy

EDIT: Just saw your last message, glad you have it working

Text is not wrapping in the twitter frame on the right pane in both Firefox and IE. It works fine in Edge though. Anybody knows why?
