So technically it's saving about $500K outright, and moving about $3.5M in NLTBE incentives, which will either not be earned or (if earned) count against 2016's cap?
Would this, assuming he reached the NLTBEs have a large negative impact on the 2016 cap?Correct.

In other words, while we gain a big savings if he is injured again, if he is healthy aren't we just doubling up the hits the following year, as the NLTBE that were earned get charged to 2016 PLUS become LTBE for 2016?
Interesting, thanks for the replyYes. If the Patriots kept the incentives for 2016. In Wilfork's case the only incentive that carried over into 2015 was the 70% playing-time incentive plus a division round appearance.
I see. Maybe. So if he "passes a physical" but isn't as fast or quick or "the same" since his injury (which happens in patellar tendon cases supposedly), the guarantee isn't triggered? He has to pass a physical in order to be considered healthy. A player has to be able to play football.
I really want Mayo to come back next year, that lb Corp would be the best in the game. Hopefully the pats and mayo can work out a deal like this one
Yes, I am expecting a restructure. Pats can NOT afford to keep Mayo at that 10m cap number. Are we totally expecting a restructure? What are odds pats keep him at the 10M cap number?
pats need to create cap space well before the draftRe-signing Akeem Ayers is a priority in the off-season. Re-structuring Mayo's contract can wait until after the draft.
